Can you take a video of what happens to the traction bar when you hear the noise on decel? On decel the front of the bar will pull down, perhaps it is contacting somewhere, perhaps even laterally since a shackle under compression is not as stable, though not as likely. It could even be something else touching when the pinion wants to go down, like a leaf spring eye or something where that half of the bushing is bad.

I realized it's been awhile since I updated this build, but I'm gonna get to do some more building, ie repairs.
I went to the Vernal Rock Rally this past weekend with @kgblazerfive and @72gmck5 and had a blast. The trails we did I would say are similar to Moab as far as terrain, but more silt on the rocks so some stuff was a lot slicker. All the trails we did were very close to town and criss-crossed each other, so it's easy to get a trail done by early afternoon, and/or get parts from town as needed (I did).

Because of all the crossing trails, I'd say it would be difficult to run any particular trail without a guide because they are not well marked. There are some serious obstacles out there and it would suck to get stuck on the wrong side of one that was outside your comfort zone.

This particular event was very jeep centric. Outside of a couple of toyotas, we were the only non-jeeps in attendance. Everyone was very cool though and friendly outside of the "we drive something better than a jeep" joke I made at the raffle. lol That went over like a lead balloon.

When I broke my front, AND rear driveshafts at the same time:

The "end my wheeling" damage I found later:

It looks like my shitty welding did not stick to the pumkin at all, so when my anti-wrap bar held the tube in place, the pumkin rotated on it's own. I'm going to look into doing a truss on the new axle, and hopefully do a better welding job this time.

I guess that's why most put their anti wrap on the pumpkin

That thing must be binding hard! Might be worth it to break the springs down and see how the arm reacts to the spring travel.
The anti wrap bar did what it was suppose to do. Keep the axle and springs from wrapping. The pumpkin twisted up because that is what they do especially when the weld's do not hold. Which is what happened with Josh's center section, the plug weld even tore out of the housing.

The only anti wrap bar I have ever seen on the center section is the Raptor that DIY did or does.

And… it’s a good design but it only works on a 14 bolt or 9” because it ties to the removable pinion support, he doesn’t offer a version for 1/2 tons, Dana’s, etc.

Whew, you don't mess around when it comes to breaking stuff.

I got the rear axle replaced with a 14 bolt (AAM) out of a 2004 2500HD.

I added a truss from ARTEC, which is local to me. The bonus to using this axle was that I got it for free, and I now have a parking brake again. I hated that I gave up the parking brake when I went to disks before. Now I have the best of both worlds! :waytogo:

I fabricated a quick braket to hold the ends of the stock (customized length though) brake cables, then paired that with a hand brake that I think is for a Chevy Spark? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NMM6CM4

I'm sure that you could make it work with the stock foot pedal, but because of where the A pillar lands on my cage, I removed the foot pedal long ago. So far, I'm liking it as a hand brake.

I did the same but with a 90’s camaro handle. I love the handbrake setup way better than the foot brake!
