hmmm, I guess that could be taken in a bad way...
unfortunately the sun was in a bad position to take those shots, but it was a spur of the moment thing.

Zim,

Some of the newest Holley systems offer both fuel and ignition timing programming together. I am still expecting to use their Dominator system to get both of those PLUS all the controls for my 4L80E.... Shift points, firmness, etc.

I like the idea that you can integrate all those maps into a single controller and share all the sensor data to really fine tune the interrelationship between the fuel, the timing curve and the way the transmission behaves.

I'm liking this idea....I have a 4L80E planned for Bart as of now, that would be kickass!

That is kickass Zim, and it would work excellent. But keep in mind that system is a multiport fully programmable system, and it is going to be far from the simplicity you were looking for. With that said, Holley is the only other company that does that so far, along with BigStuff 3, who had it first. They are both excellent options and I plan to get one of them to contol EFI and the 4L80E in my regal, its a good setup.

Your right Heath, the transmission control sounded sweet to me....I would probably be lost on the FI setup, but I think Kert has the same system on his Caddy, and he took it to a dyno tuner, and he rocked it! It sounds like such a different truck after the dyno tune.

In reality, I still need to decide how much the engine needs (oil consumption issue) I want more power but need to check the cylinders to see where the oil is going. If it needs a ring and bearing rebuild, I can handle that this year, but a bore and piston job will make me think about things a little more. I need to figure that out before I get into trans rebuilding.

Zim looks great! I have the Holly HP Dominator on Thumper and it works great! I did find out the motor was not tuned worth a hoot untill I had a pro get a hold of it 2 days ago. Gets a lot better fuel mileage and gained a bunch of HP, closer to 700hp now. I guess you need to know what your doing when it comes to tuning and I obviously don't. Lol I have the LCD engine management system also and there is all kinds of tools and accessories you can add to it.

Maybe by the time I get around to FI on BART, the FAST EZ EFI will have the capability of controlling the 4L80E!...that would be something maybe I could handle tech wise!

They already make one like that, it's called EZ-TCU. It's about $600 but it uses a 2nd ECM, not just one.

right Heath, I will consider that one when I do the 4L80....I was thinking they might integrate that controller into the EZ-EFI controller at some point...maybe a EZ-EFITCU?

I wouldn't count on that one, there is really only one sensor that would be redundant, and that is the TPS. And you may be able to just wire the TPS signal wire from the EFI back to the TCU.

I think hes busy on the maiden lately:dunno:

yep busy on the Maiden, Bart has been in a slumber since Nov.

Hope you're keeping it out of the salt.
absolutely AJ, its been sitting in the garage since November!
I know the salt and MI humidity will kill it in no time flat, there is some rust where overlapping panels are on the rockers, and a couple door skins at the bottom are seeing some expansion, otherwise its a pretty solid truck.

Ah good.

I looked at a decent 80's K10 years back. The guy had "only driven it a few winters" and was saying it had some issues but it had bad rust starting everywhere. Just not worth the trouble or the money.

your right, after having plenty of rusted vehicles, to find a clean 35 yr old truck is awesomer.
