I've got that unit. Works well for siping and okay for grooving. You REALLY want to get the rubber warm and soft if you're grooving. I did my Michelin XL's under Big Ugly and I ended up putting a curve in it and had sore arms for days.

Siped a **** ton of tires with it and it's probably one of the best tools I've spent money on in the last decade.

anyone try a cutting disc on a 4.5" grinder?

I might experiment with a couple 1/8" cut off wheels and see what happens!

I've done it with a 7" grinder and a 1/4" thick disc...messy. I think I'd rather buy the groover. After doing one tire I was ready to pay anything not to have to do the other three.

When I grooved my 43s it took all of like 1 hour to do all 4. Granted it was summer temps out and they are a little softer rubber IMO than regular TSLs

How hard is it to keep the tires in balance after grooving?
Wondering if I'll screw them up? I've never tried grooving before but realize consistency would be key to success.
Seems it would be pretty easy to make some cuts deeper than others then throwing the balance way off

Never seen anyone say they made their tires out of round by grooving, including guys who removed entire lugs.

How much do you want to do?

I grooved the lugs on Big Ugly's 11.00R16 Michelins and had no issues. All I did was bisect each tread lug into two.

Maybe you are over thinking, or more possibly I am under thinking. But you would balance the tires after grooving.... (obviously), and then they probably would unbalance like that particular tire does, abet at a slightly faster pace as they wear and tread is modified by being torn off and other tire damage. I balanced my Boggers just for fun one time out of curiousness, and put them back on the machine after about 1000 miles of whatever I drove them on, and they wasnt terribly far off. I took the weights off my rims afterwords though, and havnt noticed any thing different. But I mean these tires arnt exactly built for comfort though.

The groover will give you consistent depth. You set the blade at the desired depth :D

True that John....even a cowl mount would help a ton.

I was talking with Mike (Raiderblaz) on BB12, he uses a Holley MPFI system on his 555, and has had 2 other FI systems on it also. he said the Holley has been the most successful of the 3, and his engine was on the number everytime I heard it!
That truck is badass!

I was just looking through your thread, good stuff!!:waytogo:
I have had a Professional Products Power Injection III complete fuel injection system http://www.professional-products.com/EFI_3.php and never got it running quite right. I kept going through fuel pumps on a mild built BBC 468. Now the Holley MPFI with the LCM engine monitor has been incredible!! It is more expensive but well worth the money when you get in it and drive. When I Mud Bog I can put race fuel in the tank and get an extra 70hp out of my BBC 555 just by pushing some buttons!! I am happy & love the Holley MPFI so far! I also installed an Aeromotive Stealth Fuel Cell with a internal A1000 Fuel Pump. http://aeromotiveinc.com/products-page/stealth-fuel-systems/18661-20g-a1000-stealth-fuel-cell/
This combination has been great!

I talked with you at BB12 about your system Mike, and it is quite impressive...as is Thumper! That 555 is just flat out badass man!

Finally got the tank out....I think I found the dead spot problem...

that hose that connects to the hard line on the pickup/sender unit, needed a clamp, it pretty much slipped off, when I pulled the unit out of the tank. the hose (all fuel submersible rated) basically was soft enough to slip on and off that pickup line.
Everything else on the fuel system looks good.

Will probably be getting rid of this factory sender pickup (new in 2011) anyone interested.

Here is the hole we have to fill with a fuel tank (Kerts)...

I'll be removing this upper tank support to make a little more room too.
the tank will be located on the skid plate
