I think the battery will have to be relocated to the drivers side fenderwell also...this will give me a completely flat floor to locate trail gear, cooler, toolbox, etc.

The yellow line is the angle of the seats when they are at their rearmost position on the sliders.

fixed that for ya Adam!

Kert has worked with me on this custom tank, and has provided many ideas and direction for it to come together....I'm lucky enough he lets me come visit the shop and I'll try not to hamper his progress....we may even have some fun over the weekend!

You running your heater? Put the battery there works great that is where mine is out of the way and behind the glove box.

So in you little paint design that looks really good...........except for that hunk of frame hanging two feet down

I think you could very easily modify the frame and hangers to keep the bumper but suck it up and in and it would work great.

the heater is still in the truck, new heater core and all!
It will stay, the spot on the fenderwell will work good, I wanted that 75# in the back not the front.
The frame has to stay like it is...the bumper was made for the 2" body lift, so its 2" higher than normal, and if the bumper was any closer or higher the tailgate wont open flat.

For the bumper I'd rework the mounts to pull it in just under your new framework in the paint pic you did. So that it sits just flush with the bottom of the tailgate in the center It would look like this when done and give you better approach/departure, while still leaving enough to protect the shackles.

(Mr.Clean) if you by chance were talking about the frame ties thanks But I didnt get to actually installing the rear most ones if I remember right. I got them cut and ready but I think I left and eric n dave did them

I sure woulda liked runing the grinder to cut that floor though

Well yes it would, now I got that to think about too? By pulling it in that far, it would affect the shape of the tailpan, and not give any protection to the rear sheetmetal, and it works great for a step in the position its in. The only time it scaped was coming down the big rock on Chewy!....

I'm not out to reinvent the wheel here .....No, its going back on like it was, ....and Rick, I've seen you in action, rusty metal dust flying, shards of tetnus filled metal waiting to rip through a finger pieces being ripped off...yep your kind of work!

plastic battery boxes do not keep the battery in place, they are plastic you really should do a metal one. As well as a sealed gel battery if you don't have one yet. I would not want that thing coming loose in some high speed action somewhere that close to the rear passengers.

the plastic box's are for keeping them in place in a john boat or something. A 50-70lb battery moving even 2 inches (top scace to the lid)after a hard flop, (like erics) could rip right through that strap. And form personal experience, if you put bolts n fender washers inside to hold it down better they will corrode BAD and fast. Even with a yellow top cause thats what I had. Just figured I'd mention it I can see the leaving the bumper part, If it aint broke dont fix it, right

OK well that is fine with the bumper, I still think you should move it up like Shady pictured.

If I move the bumper up, it won't allow the tailgate to open, right now with the tailgate open flat, it has about 3/4" gap between the tailgate and the top of the bumper...get it? If it was moved any further in towards the body, it would get into the tailpan, or cut off some of the top of the bumper, and also have to hack off the bottom of the quarter panels, or do more bumper mods. The bumper is also mounted by 4 bolts, 2 towards the front of the bumper brackets....those are located right next to the cage tie ins on the frame, so even more mods would have to be done somewhere.....Is that making sense?

Its just a spill absorbent pad...like a Maxi pad if you will.

I believe its called a Pigpad...




EDIT:

correction, that is just some plastic corrugated, works well for crawling under a vehicle, but not as comfortable as say a yoga mat...
