Yep, thats what I'm looking for....couldn't find it in the 100+ posts in search???

I got your intake hose mounting @ the rad. support too AJ. It is the plastic piece that turns to lock into the support right?

I'll throw a pic up later.

Did the junkyard crawl yesterday again. The haul:

An 80+ 2WD steering box...guaranteed to work:haha:

The radiator, fan, shroud, upper filler...also got the support brackets to hold the radiator to the support, but will probably need to make lower supports.

another couple diesel fuel filters....there has to be a use for these things somewhere:

and the hydroboost brake pedal:

Still looking for some radiator ideas, as I'm sure this one wont be functional enough to use.
Anyone know who sells all metal radiators at a great price?

Doh, nope, I need the other thing, on the other (engine bay) side of the core support. I have the "hat" there. I need the part that bolts to the core support. The intake duct tube then goes from it to the air intake.

Damn, that picture's big. It's the part with the flanges and visible bolt heads there.

Oh, and the fuel filters, I've seen guys talk about wanting them so there must be a demand.

reason i wanted one was replace the tiny filter on the frame rail of a tbi truck.

feed it to here first and have a nice masive filter with water drain if you get crap in the system.

next remove the blead off valve at the top and install 0-30 mech pressure gauge and keep a eye on pressure .

and its super beefy and gm orignal part. :D

heard some also build custom tranny filter kit from them also. not researched it yet my self but big possiblilty.

What year is that AJ....the ones I've been robbing have only had the plastic hat....they've been 82 or so. I think there is a later model (the one with the rectangular fuel filter). Maybe 85 or so?

Brett, have you seen that smaller one in use on anything? I recognized the larger one, from the one I got you. Somebody tacked on the smaller one.
I think they would make good trans filters too, but I already bought a remote trans fluid filter from Jegs.

It's off my '89.

So what held the duct onto the hat at the firewall?

It was just a push on, interference fit...If you look at that hat (and they are hard to see) there is 4 raised ribs in line with the tabs that hold it to the rad support, that the plastic tube fits over.

Huh, well, I'm game to try and I bet at worst at least some of those parts are the same. Thanks man!

AJ, if I get back there, I remember another K20 that had a diesel also. I'll try to find it.

More new parts....

DIY4X 14b axle truss and traction bar kits (Note the free gloves):

And an S&W DOM family cage kit:

Awesome for you! New parts are always cool. REALLY REALLY REALLY take your time laying out a prebent cage. Head clearence is the big factor IMHO, width & height. Maximize it as much as possible. IF it is too low at the stock cut length you can raise it by sleeving properly. Slide on tube over the cage dia tube and weld it in place and weld the sleeve to the cage plate. If you do this notch the sleeve on the side you going to weld it to the cage tube. That way it's NOT a straight across cracking failure point, but a large "U" shape. Will give you more linier weld too. Yeah you may have one more weld as a failure point but with a "U" it will be far less likely to fail there. You can sleeve to widen the cage too using the same sleeve method with the "U" cuts, Make sence? FYI.

Very good points Robert, I've been listening to some advice, and that has come up.
I'm sure when I get there I'll be seeking more advice on the install too. For now, I will mock up the cage in the tub, take some reference points, and plan on reinforcing the frame where I will make the tie-ins to the body/rollbar plates.

the cage is the 8 point kit with outriggers, and the family cage kit added on, in DOM...it was 630....shipping was 93.

Not nearly as bad as I had thought

I really wanted to get a bender, and may still in the future, but I also wanted to get this thing legal to run the dunes as soon as I can.
I talked with a couple local builders, and it was way more money than this to get them to build one...neither was up to bending tube for me, and me doing the work on the cage.
So this kit fit my needs pretty good for now. I'll do this to get it going and probably add more to it in the future.
