C'mon Dave, are you saying you don't like welding overhead?

Rene
NO I DON"T
yeah you wuss, how else are you going to learn?
I know I know, but I have enough challenge welding right side up, I don't want to have to redo my chit again....It will be just as easy to flip this thing over...4 bolts...the axles are out.:D

Yep get some leathers on and get welding LOL
You mean leather gloves....I already got em

oh you mean jacket....what are those for???:dunno:

RENE':
I got my MRI results for the shoulder....partially torn rotator, some arthritis action, and possibly some spurs in the (some medically techinical term stuff) shoulder joint.
Anyhow the surgeon suggested waiting a couple months as long as the symptoms seem to be getting better, and do more very light weight and stretching exercises to condition the joint more, but if treating the pain with meds continues he recommends arthroscopic surgery....Um, that's just gonna have to wait.

Finished welding the topside stuff today, and got the frame completely stripped of everything that is bolted on. Tomorrow finish welding from bottom side, and a few tricks from Eric, and we're sandblasting.

A pic of the gap to be closed in, by using a C clamp in a few spots. The metal is quite compliant to form into these gaps by clamping force, and tack welding in a few spots.
Just have to make sure the tacks are good solid ones or they'll pop.

For a second there I thought your hoist had Swampers on it.

How'd you flip it? Frames ain't light.

Looks like its coming along nicely Dave.

Get a short weld on and tap it with a hammer. It'll form up nicely that way too.

:haha: It does kinda look that way don't it...cool off road cherry picker!

We set it down on the ground and my brother and I flipped it over....I was handling this thing by myself when I had it acid dipped, but this bastard is getting heavy now.
We flipped it, then hoisted it up again with the cherry picker on one end, and a floor jack under the back to get it back into the shop. More welding in the AM, then blasting in the PM.

I think I tried that before Kert, and I like the C clamp because it will hold it in place til tacked up too. PM sent!

Go Dave Go!!! :popcorn::woot::popcorn:

Thanks Paul, I gotta bust a$$ right now, to be ready for the build and greet in 3 weeks!

So much to do...got the paint and primers for the frame today, weather co-operating pretty good here right now for getting it outside for blasting!!!Thats a huge help right there. After that more wrenching stuff. It'll be a nice break from grinding and burning metal:bow:

Keep going at this pace and there wont be anything for us to work on:thumb:

Oh I wish, then we could sit around and bs, watch Jess' roast his tires, eat Stuffed pizza, and have a bonfire in the pit!

And just so you don't get discouraged did you see the list?

Just watch out for the shoulder man, make sure you got help so you can keep going on it. You are a insperation with all your getting done.:waytogo:

I might have to get busy with mine.

Did the guy give you some physical therapy exercises?

I can tell you all the exercises they gave me after I had my shoulder surgery

completely off topic but I may need those. My shoulder feels great 90% of the time just when I lift and rotate is when it hurts like hell. Only my right side, ie I can't do military presses at all due to the pain. Regular bench press no problem just over the head kills.

Hey Max, this site is great for motivation....it keeps me going sometimes!

I have a couple pages of theraband exercises from when I went to P.T. for it a couple months ago. They help stretch and condition the shoulder, which I really need to make more time for doing.

I'm headed out to the shop.

Yes its raining here now, barely, but its still really warm out and im loving it. Maybe no cold grinding start in the morning??? Awesome. Hopefully it stays warm, saturday im gonna go down to the barn and do the last 2 brake lines on my Van. Then I got a date with a new lady. Should be a good day :thumb:

Sure is looking good Dave. :waytogo:

It amazes me on how much good work you get done daily.

Thanks, progress is going good, due mostly to the fact that I took a week off .:D

That ought to feel good today, we're having a heat wave, it's supposed to hit 60!
It hit 70 in Kzoo area today...it was NICE... a little warm in the sandblasting hood though.

Yah its going to be great!!! I'm headed to my shop as well at 4. But I have to do brakes on my g/fs nazi car(09 vw jetta)

I hate delays like that, keeps you from the important stuff

Good for you Deuling....hope things go well, but just remember, we are still due for a late March, early April snow fall.

Finished all the frame mods and welding today, cleaned it up with a flap disc, and moved it outside for sandblasting. This thing is fun to move around by yourself...NOT

The finished boxing kit:

A couple DOM reinforcement tubes for the middle of the frame rails (Erics' Idea)

Made some holes in the bottom part of the frame for cleanout/drainage:

The blasted frame from the bottom side...I still need to flip it over and do the topside, but it started threatening rain so I cleaned up the sand and moved everything back into the shop.

Ironmaiden198.jpg

This quickly thrown together sifter has already saved me about 15$ in sand....I've gone through 400lbs of boughten sand and another 150-175lbs of recycled sand already.
