Good for you Deuling....hope things go well, but just remember, we are still due for a late March, early April snow fall.

NOO!!! I dont want any more snow!!! lol, im not gettin my van out till their is absolutly no chance for snow. I want 18 mpg sooooo bad though!!! haha

Finally got done with the frame blasting. Had another nice day to work outside, bout 50* just right for blasting.
I got it cleaned up, blew all the sand out (I think) and then moved it into the shop, wiped it down with laquer thinner, then shot it with a light coat of zinc weld through primer. This will serve for a base, and will be left that way down most of the side of the frame and the top in the frontal area, as we will be tying in the engine cage/shock hoops, and sliders in those areas. The rest will get a coat of Urethane primer, then the finish coat of some kind of Navy green/grey something that looked good on the chip chart.

Color is on!

Looks like a lighter shade of olive drab on the frame:

Most of the frame is painted, with the exception of the bottom side, and the taped off areas which we'll be welding in the vacinity of.

Oh that looks nice!! Are you leaving it that color?? I like it for sure.
Yep, thats what came out of the gun, so it is what it is, and I like it too!

Beautiful just beautiful

Looks awesome Dave!

I keep cranking away at it, by the end of the day my back is shot.
Pop is coming over today to help me tinker on the major components work.
Another sunny day in MI, although its only 35 right now, it supposed to hit low 50's today!

Also the frame being that color will make it stick out more than just being black, i think it will be cool. And I am also loving the"heat wave" lol. GOnna go get stuff done.

Mom always used to tell me: being different was special.:dunno:

Nice build and very clean! Good work!

Thanks man!

Pop came and helped out today, we got a few items on the 14BFF list completed, and I got the frame underside painted today.
Painting is done til we get the cage and sliders, etc installed.

ERIC, these are the areas I left in a light coat of weld through zinc, in addition I left the top of the frame, in the engine compartment zinc coated also.

looks good Dave, dig the color.. what gun ya squirt it with? paint and primer brands?

Thanks Paul, I shot it with my old DeVilbiss syphon feed.
Napa Zinc weld through for a base primer (rattlecans), then
Nason SelectPrime 2K Urethane Primer 421-19
Nason Ful-thane 2K Urethane Single Stage color.

Gonna be weird working on a frame I don't have to grind the crap out of to make it nice and clean.

Dave serious that looks awesome. I really like it when guys don't paint their frames black.

I had a zuk years ago that the truck was mostly black with an orange frame. It looked cool

As far as where you left just primer it looks fine. If we need to grind some off we can.

I love seeing stuff like this come together.

Truly awesome.

I just wanted to be alittle off the beaten path with that color....I think I am too!

I hope the primered spots are where we need them, if not we'll be grinding paint.

Yeh, I'd like to go farther with more stuff, but just gotta wait til we get a few things finalized before welding and painting them.....but it will be coming soon!

Yep pretty happy with it so far, new looking old stuff is cool.

coming along real nice:waytogo:!!!

thanks Brian, I feel like I've made good progress this week....hopefully good progress next week too!

Yup, that sure did turn out nice. can't wait to see what all you guys get done in April.

Me either, this will be a cool get together.
Tomorrow, I want to get the axles back under the frame so its mobile again....trying to flip this thing over without screwing up the paint is a bitch.
