Have fun!

We did! Awesome weather up there, mid 80's and a little humid after the storm on Friday AM, then low 80's and a little breeze, and low humidity the rest of the weekend. in the low 60's/upper 50's at night, great for sleeping.

The voucher system really sucks, it was no where near this bad last year on labor day weekend...wtf? I sat in line for 5.5 hrs before I had vouchers in my hand....won't do that again.

Have fun Dave..I want some pics of the Jeepster when you get back.:thumb:

check out the 68 Jeepster thread Max. Its in the other rides section....

:haha:
Yup I feel ya, we sat in line for I think almost 7 hours, luckily we brought a portable grill in the van, lots o pancake supplies and a fafafootball to pass the time:thumb:

That's why it's not worth it on holiday weekends. And just think how bad it would be to actually get it if they didn't have the vouchers, a lot more people would show up, and they would probably all be trying to get in the park at the same time. As bad as it sucks, it would probably suck worse. So wheres the trip pics?

From what Adam says, its just as bad on a regular weekend, get in line at 6:30 and wait til noon for the voucher center to open....I got in line at 9am, and waited til 2:30, got 3-5 pm vouchers for SAt and Sun, and 1-3 for Mon. It was the best, drive right in, and it was about 1/4 of the vehicles out there.

Pics are on my daughters camera, she'll send em to me I hope...here's a blown 1st gen:

Nice pics so far, and 3 - 5 PM? You wait until the day is mostly gone and then you go out there? Man, when I travel all the way there, I get the earliest vouchers I can, and spend the whole day in there pretty much.

Hold da phone dave lol. I went on memorial weekend which is just as busy as the 4th and labor day. I havnt been up on a normal weekend since they started the voucher system. And heath when vouchers are out you gotta get the time slots that are still available. Normally if you arent in the first mile of the line your gettin 3 to 5s or 5 to 7s.

AS Adam, mentioned, it was all that was available to me, being about 1.5 mi deep in the waiting line.

HEY !!!!

Friggin' no good name stealin bastard....:haha:

I wouldn't roll in a POS poser truck like that anyway....:thumb:

I figured as much Frank....I'd change the wheels, and tires, and use it for a tow truck though.

OK Adam, I thought you were up on a off holiday w/e. But really the 3-5's worked out good, as I've been around the dunes many times, and doing it in the Jeepster is getting old, the kids had a great time at the beach, but by 7 they were done too.

I got some Timbren bumps ordered today....
aeon-double-convolution.gif
4 of em for 126$ shipped from Burke suspension.
I will need to make the mounting for them.

And worked on some parts for painting.

started with a likeness of this:

do a bunch of cleaning and a couple coats of paint on em:

And end up looking at this,
A Tilt column refreshed and removed auto shifter lever, and ignition:

Nice. Half tempted to go floor shift if I keep my 700R4.

Half tempted just to leave it alone as it is.

When I had my Nova still, I ground off the little bracket thingy for the column shift lever, then filled it in with JB weld, then sanded and primed and sanded... then finally painted.

I think the steering column is the best part of that car, wherever she may be now.

You should like the timbrens, I can't notice when they hit, I haven't bottom out my shocks with them on yet. I obviously need to try harder though :thumb:

Great idea, I may do that when I redo the interior....just had to get it together right now to get this thing usable.

Good to hear, I've read a lot of good about them.

I'm outta here for a few more days....headed to Joliet for the rte. 66 nats
Ima needing some nitro.

If you dont mind me asking dave, what is the pros of an "on the floor shifter" compared to the column one?? All I know is they look way cooler:thumb:

mostly a better shifter mechanism. A column shifter can be subject to the twisting forces of the body/frame, and when your twisted up, can make it difficult to make gear selections. The shifter I will use is really precise on gear selection, and with a cable it isn't subject to the twisting and binding a column shifter can be.
And having control at your side, instead of the lever on the column makes for a more controlled selection IMO.

And it looks cool too!
I'm dropping some parts off at the strippers this AM, then off to snort some nitro!

and you can actually work the trans, as opposed to daintily trying to find the detents on the high performance column shifter....

welcome back Dave.... oh wait, your leaving again.. :doah: have fun! take pics... :deal:
