In the Vette thread!...or did you want the PCV setup for the Maiden????

for some reason I thought you were speaking of these on the maiden. My confusion.

Good reading. I've been doing some digging and reading.

Haven't made any decisions yet, hoping I can go at it from a different route. Hope to have made that decision this sunday.

I ended up with a can breather on each valve cover, and a PCV on the rear of one cover.

That engine bay is pure porn :pimp:

I think you should loose the breather on the valve cover with the PCV-valve.
I don't think it will evacuate the crank case fumes very well otherwise, it would just suck air through the nearest breather.

thanks Fred...but the hole is there, I had the breather, so otherwise it would just get plugged with a rubber plug I guess?

got the tabs tack welded to the tie rod...everything clears by a minimum of 3/8" as is. Does the mounting look right?

Also when I bottom the ram, or extend the ram fully, the knuckle stops do not contact the "C" on the axle...I assume this is correct?

Well, I think that is a combination of the fact that your knuckle stops are screwed all the way in without a jam nut(and the other side doesn't even have a bolt in it), and the fact that the cylinder is limiting your steering angle. Whether or not that is normal I don't know. But I would screw your stops out so you don't brake an axle joint. The way it is right now I bet your axle joints bind before you hit the steering stops on the knuckle. They should use a 3/8-24 UNF bolt and nut.

Looks correct to me. I have a similar amount of clearance with my steering stops. Looks like you are missing one on one side there, but yes I believe you are correct you want to run out of ram stroke before you hit the steering stops to prevent damage.

I realize one stop is missing, I will replace it. Just wanted to make sure that the ram was suppose to be fully extended or retracted without hitting the stops! Sounds like I'm good!

Looks good. Don't really need steering stops now.

I would still put them in and adjust them so they hit and are snugg when the ram is maxed out, that way there is no danger of the wheel hitting something and ripping the ram guts out like hitting it against a rock...

yeah, I can see your point. Don't hurt for them to be there.

Even hydro assist will crush those stops in short order. Get em though, they are cheap, if your ram is extended past where it should stop, think about limiting the ram

I was thinking more along the lines of the stops hitting the same time the ram limits out.

I get the ram will overpower the stops, i like isaamm,s thought of using them, as long as they don,t try to limit the ram travel.

i think i,ll put them back in, this is an 85 model year axle, and the bolts were metric head...14mm, not sure what the thread is yet, but i,ll put new ones in as a extra measure of steering stop, in case something would happen to the ram.

Yah i was saying if you use the stops to set the stop your ram can push past it, daves looks dandy the way it is
so setting the stop with about an 1/8" clearance would work out?

Preciate the help guys!

The ram is very powerful. I had the lines hooked up backwards on mine when they fired up the and went to move it the first time it shaped the drag link half.

So hook it all up and leave the end of the ram off to make sure it goes the same way you are turning just to check first. Then hook it up. And I did it like PSC said and it was wrong. You will love the steering when it's done. Mine drive straight down the road with no effort, even with old tires that aren't even balanced.

that sounds good Teck...Got the tabs welded today, and a new coat of primer/paint on it...Cat Yellow...yeah I know, too many colors on the truck, not a matching color, not a themed color...ok, I don't give a rip, It's going on, and more Cat yellow to follow...I bought 3 cans of it.

You sure about that? :dunno: My axle was from an 86 truck (we pulled it ourselves) and it has the 3/8 fine threaded bolts in it....
