I keep looking at the pics of your yard...you told me you had a little play ground in the back, now that I seen it, I gotta say FNSWEET man!!

The Maiden is looking good with the grill and the headlight trim on.:thumb:

I just love your attention to detail and the obvious pride you take in keeping your vehicles HD and yard so nice and cool. :waytogo:

Really looking forward to meeting you in person Dave.

they all look good at a distance! some you need to get farther away than others though....

talked with Rene' the other night, and the Sept 1st get together will be an epic event!!! I gotta talk with you again soon too!
Really looking forward to hangin out with you all at the ranch Dean!

Put small zip ties on the shock shaft, they will let you know how far they travel
the dust leaves a pretty distinct mark on the shock shaft...after that hard bottoming out, they showed about 1" of unused shock travel on the short end. How would you check the extended length to make sure your not over extending the shock? I've only cycled the suspension in a couple holes...one on the right front, the other on the left rear...seems I had plenty of length left, but the tires were still on the ground too.

haha, I won't plan on that again...just don't need a broken D60 now....but in other news...was playing around the last 2 days with it and have an issue.

The engine won't cold start...
It's fuel related, I can crank and pump for a minute, get not even a hint of fire.
I can squirt an ounce of fuel in the bowl vent, and it'll fire right up.
Sounds like a acc pump not working right?
If that was the case it would fall on its face when the throttle is whacked quickly right?
Well its very responsive once its running, like there never was a problem?
Once it was started I drove it around the playground out in the back property, and it was without issue, very responsive and no fuel issues???

Any ideas on that?

sounds like the bowl is empty after sitting?

ya got a Jet quad on there right?

You mentioned another issue earlier where it would just fall on its face. Related???

nope, this one just started this week, and its only related to starting...I know I know, FAST EFI ftw!

Ya know, I think the injection is great. The learning curve is something else entirely. If you can sit down and really wrap your head around all of it. I mean, really learn it and understand it. You also need to be able to box up your carb tuning skills and leave them behind, I think they can really serve to handicap you when it comes to the fuel injection.

Us old dogs that have always had a carb under the hood got some catching up to do.

oh don't I know it Kert, I'm about as archaic as a carnut gets....I might hold a slight advantage on my Dad, but thats about it..:dunno:

I will probably try for FI next year or early 2014 though...but for now this carb has to work, any mods made from here on out will be done with FI in mind.

When you pull the trigger, learn as much as you can. Dig into it and wrap your head around. Then hire a professional to fix it.:haha::thumb:

thats what I did trying to just figure out carbs:doah:I can build, troubleshoot and fix, electrical systems that span mulitple buildings, floors, and machines, all day long with ease. But no matter what I read, watch or do to learn carbs, I still cant do anything more than set the idle screw where I want it. no matter what I try, I cant figure carbs out:haha: Maybe I should try reading up on FI:rolleyes: It might be simpler for me.

When ya go FI dave, Just go with the newer setups that teach them selves:waytogo: All ya do is install it do a quik set and then run it to a few pulls in the instructions. Sets everything its self like a new car does.:D

No need for efi yet.
Your bowl is empty after sitting.
Gotta figure out why.
Is it leaking or evaporating?

It acts like it Issaam....but why is right???

and if empty, why doesn't the fuel pump fill it while cranking?

Once I shoot a little fuel into the carb to get it running, it will run fine for more than 15 min:dunno:

like I said, it acts like the accelerator pump isn't working, but when you whack the throttle it responds fine...just a problem starting it. I need to make a little time to look at it...

that means its going into the engine then right? Sonavabitch:eek1:

I agree with the thinking EFI stuff

as well as the bowls leaking

what happens after the 15 minutes of running. The pump wont fill the bowl if it is closed from the float not working right.

As asked before and i didn't see an answer to it, you have a quadrajet on it? They are notorious for having the casting plugs on the bottom of the carb leak. When that happens, all the fuel emptys slowly into the engine. That's why you have to crank it so long before it starts. The fuel pump is having to re fill the carb.

It is a quad, built by JET...and worked pretty good (cept for the high angle flooding) til now. I did dunk it pretty good in a waterhole at Silver Lake...I got a K&N on it, figured anything that did get through was filtered pretty good, but maybe not...guess I should pull it off to find out whats inside.

And cranking it for a couple minutes won't get it to start...but putting a little fuel in through the air horn will get it to fire immediately.
