replacing the PS pump again, this time because of leaks at the reservoir to pump Oring.

the replacement...a warranty replacement unit from Oreilly's.

Do the two highlighted bolts get an oring on them?
The original pump I had on there I dont' recall them being sealed to that reservoir in any way...Seems like there should be an Oring on them to keep fluid from seeping out between the reservoir housing and the pump body???

The o rings are between the can and pump. You should be able see them when you remove the plugs to install the bolts.

The pump that we grenaded here a short while back started leaking out of those holes.

JD, right, there is a square looking Oring in between the pump body and the reservoir sheetmetal...also a reinforced area for the bolt head to seat against....I put a dab of thread sealant on the threads toward the head of the bolt just for some insurance.

Thanks guys, hopefully 3rd one's a charm....or a strikeout?

product appearance and finish may vary, but fit and function remain the same

functioning ok right now, haven't test drove it yet, but its already whining when I step on the brakes or turn to lock.
At least it isn't leaking...YET.

I installed the pump, rotated the pump by hand a couple dozen revolutions with it full of fluid.
then turned the wheel by hand w/ engine off about a dozen lock to lock cycles with tires off the floor.
then started the engine and proceeded to turn lock to lock until it foamed up...shut down for an hour and then repeated a couple times until no more foaming...keeping the remote reservoir 1/2 full throughout. So now it turns the tires good, but makes that power steering whine while doing it.

Hey dave, I have cage ideas on the brain as its my next big project. Did this ever happen?

I was looking under mine, and I think because I have no body lift (also not sure how much different your tub is than mine) I think a few of my cage tie ins will have to be like this, as there just isn't enough room to get a good angle etc. Just wondering if anything became of these anti rotational plates etc.

Otherwise I may just try and run them verticlal, and if I do need to remove the body ill just have to take the poly bolt out, and the cage plate bolts out as well. (not that big of a deal).

Aren't the cage tie ins supposed to the other way? It seems like your current setup is just a pivot

I also plan on making an anti rotation plate on the front cage tie ins, it will be a flat plate that goes from the flat part of the body mount to the tube so that when pushed down it will not rotate around the bushings

If you really need bushings, it makes more sense to put the bushing on the bottom cage plate, and bolt or weld solid to the frame.

there has been a lot of debate about which way to mount these...from the many trucks I've rode in, my truck is as solid as any (perhaps you recall from riding in it?)...there is no body flex, no chassis flex...its caged from the rad support to the tailgate. With all that going on I don't think it matters in my case, which position these bushings are mounted in. Perhaps a simple roll bar, or small cage it might matter. I went by what the CK5er's were saying at the time of the build and greet. I don't think the discussion was as lengthy as the one about how long to make the traction bar though!

Yah I just wondered if that anti rotation plate thing Eric had mentioned ever came to be.

I think your fine too Dave, I definitely wouldn't change it at this point.

I was just saying, if Adam is making a set from scratch, he can move them to the bottom cage plate so the mounting plane is horizontal, then it kind of kills the debate, because the bolt can mount inline with the brace tube while also being able to lift the body off.

Yes I like that idea alost and I think thats how Ill go. Carry on :waytogo:

pickin on my first attempt at cage braces with NO guidance again:rolleyes: LOL. I kind of came up with a few ways I could have done them better since then too. I thought they did add something to them later though...:dunno: guess not.

They're fine as is but I somewhat understand the concerns of what Adam might be getting into.
I had envisioned full cage front to back from the beginning and the rigidity that it provides is awesome
Only thing I would do different is tie in the sliders.
Like I mentioned with a full caged truck its not an issue, things stay put!
The suspension does all the flexing and it shows!

Not doubting it at all man. The thing is solid. I was just looking for pics of peoples cage tie ins and remembered you had some good ones. Then i saw erics post about the anti rotation plate. Really was just more curious of what the heck he was talking about than anything lol.

Snow Mobile

finally got a decent amount of snow on the ground to play in...
