8 Low

This thing is without a doubt, the baddest machine I've ever been behind the whee of...... offroad. No rocks here but we have some nasty bluffs. It's done everything I ask,

Why swap bodies?

Martin
Because the new body has been made into a mega-cab already & they did a very good job of it. It has full interior, carpet headliner, sweet overhead console & all. It's nice & quiet in there. Less rust. After bashing 8low around on dirt & gravel for a few days the thought of a permanent open cab with constant swirling dust does not appeal to me. I think the biggest drawback is going to be a weight penalty.

What is the reason for the one ton calipers with the three quarter ton rotor?
Haven't seen that combo before.

Well, I guess that is a product of the way it came together. It was a 1ton dually axle & I put Dodge hubs on it. The calipers I had on it were new/rebuilt & seemed to be compatable so I used them.

Jackson made a point to keep the 3rd row seat provisions when he bobbed the Suburban & added the pickup box. I ended up cutting them out when i installed the rear shock hoops.

I'm trying to figure out a way to keep the back seats, run shocks into the floor, and maintain my 40 gal tank and have room for a traction bar and exhaust.

Sealing off the back end sounds a lot easier than a body swap. You would still have to bob that other Suburban. Why ruin that other Suburban and go from two to one?

But my cab is 6" too short. It does not cover the rear passengers. I'd have to extend it back then box it in. Then I have to tie in the inside of the pickup box to the body. The new body was cut back farther & has room for the rear passengers. The passenger compartment in a Suburban is way more roomy than a quad cab pickup. Hence the need for a "mega cab" I've looked at using a couple things to push the cab back then box it but they are not to my liking.
