Damn you cab only body's! Ha I didn't think the frames ware that different. Welp guess you learn something new everyday.

the frames are quite a bit different but most of the brackets, crossmember's, springs etc. are the same.

I vaguely remember switching the brackets from side to side, IIRC it changes the distance from the front leaf spring mount to accommodate different length springs. Did you look at that when you installed the Kerts brackets? I'll look through my photos and see if I can see any pictures of this.

great build thread! the only question I have after changing to a blazer
gas tank how did you set it up for filling?

Thanks.

For the filler and the breather I just ran it under the bed and cut a hole in the bed behind the wheel well. Nothing fancy and you can see the filler in this pic.

what year f150 did you take the springs from ? 2 or 4 wheel drive if it even makes a difference

The 57's were from a 93 FORD F150 2wd IIRC. In case I didn't mention it already, I removed the overloads last summer to give it a little more flex.

Lot's of parts stacking up in the garage so I'll have more updates soon.

I used those springs on the front of my ram w200 and man are they soft but damn do they flex

Love this build and how the truck is used. Going to do something with the fuel tank filler someday? Any updates?

Whats coming next?
Got a list going and parts stacked up on the shelf.

1) Install 14Bff Detroit locker, ruff stuff diff cover and pinion guard
2) Drop out the NP205 and install the JB Custom Fab twin stick kit
3) Need to buy/install the DIY4x backbone wraptor. I'm planning on having Kert add some shock mounts on it like he did for Muddermilitia. I'll order that this week.....
4) New front axle seals, both are leaking currently.
5) Move front shocks vertical, possibly using some Pacific Fab mounts I have or maybe use some hoops? I'll need to weld some tabs on the axle housing.
6) Bump-stops
7) Install DIY4x FUSH
8) Steering Assist. I have most of these parts including a new pump, PSC Ram, PSC reservoir, Redneck box, XJ steering shaft. I need to swing by Ruffstuff and grab a new beef tie rod and TRE's along with some tabs. I'm thinking I'll just weld the ram tabs to the cover. Need to buy a cooler still.
10) mount up the 37's on the weld stone crusher wheels
11) Defang, possibly more trimming?
12) Install rear bumper I bought last year

Some other things on the list are sliders, cage and an A-bomb.

I'll likely tackle the above list one at a time so I can keep the truck moving and operational. I like being able to cross stuff off the list and then tackle the next job.

Going to do something with the fuel tank filler someday?

I would like to use a piece of tubing for the filler with a coupler at the tank and then mount a sheet metal box or something that cover it all in the corner of the bed. I had to use a paint bucket to cover it when I was hauling soil :D

Looks like a good list. For #5 you could maybe use some of those Ford F-250 shock towers like everyone is using. They're cheap and seem to hold up well. I think you can mount the shocks vertically with them pretty easy.

should keep me busy through the winter :D

I actually run the ferd towers now however these other mounts I picked up came off a K5 crawler and have more gusseting on the backside. I'll post up some pics of them later.

That list sounds great! I've got a buddy just starting a build on his k10, he needs to follow yours

couple small updates from the past couple weekends.

First I got the new PS pump and hoses installed so no more leaky mess and I can actually steer now.

About a month or so ago I found 5 Interco 37x13.5x16 M16's for a killer deal so I picked those up. My buddy had an extra set of 16x10 Weld Stone Crushers in his garage so I bought those and dropped them off with a 1000 .20g airsoft pellets for each wheel at the local tire joint. Later I get a phone call about the tires not mounting right, Indian guys so I'm not quite understanding what the hell the issue is. So I go back over to the shop and they tell me a tire blew up and in the process it hit the tire guy in the face, there was blood all over the floor and he had a flat lip :eek1:

Here's the carnage

They were trying to say the rims were too small, I thought right away they may be too big, possibly 16.5's so I loaded them up and went home.

Rigged up a measuring device with a couple squares and confirmed they're 16.5's :doah:

So that was all a big waste of time and I wasted a tire in the process so now I only have 4. I'm still thinking I'll pickup some 16" rims for these tires anyway.

Here's a tire rolled in front of the 35's on the truck now.
