86 K5 -"Jacob's monster truck" with a Cummins swap

Well, no real updates to speak of :doah:, I have just about finished the firewall ,it's turning out nice. Soo much cleaner with out the factory heater box hanging off of it, and the Summit heater will take up alot less room under the dash as well.

blueblazes44- The windsheild frame is just the top section of a 1975 K5 frame, cut and grafted onto my 86. I had a 75 that I was going to build, but after getting about 1/2 way into disassembly and finding more rust then metal I parted what I could and kept what I would need to convert a later model to full convertible. I was able to salvage the windshield frame, doors and the hard top and other misc doo-dads to help.

The last 2 months my work schedule was pretty busy, but hopefully I can get back on the truck in the next week or 2.

I will have a bunch of cool new parts coming soon ;), and thanks to blowedupmotor87 an awesome ORD front bumper will be gracing the front of my rig :D soon.

Very cool build! My 3 yr old son & I liked looking it over tonight! LOL (now I might have to get bigger tires - I only have 37s! - LOL)

Wow I have been slackin' :doah: :doah:, but a busy work schedule (I'm not complaining) and 3 BLIZZARDS this winter has just robbed me of any time to work on the rig.
But .......... I do have some major changes to the build happening, I don't have any pics yet but for now I will just say I no longer own a big block full vert K5 :D Pics and an explanation to come soon :p:

We had it in writing. What happened?

Yes it is in writing, and that hasn't changed. I should have some pics tonight, but all I'll say for now is I came across a "smoking" deal :deal: :p:

Ok, I have been fighting with my camera and computer and so far losing:doah:. So I'll just spill the beans and get pics up later. I stumbled upon a vandalized 94 Dodge 2500 Cummins :D, it's a 2wd, the only salvagable body panels were the pass. side door and fender, but it's a P-pumped 12 valve with 71,850 miles :eek1: for $1500 !!! I couldn't say no.
So the plans are now, Cummins , nv4500 and a np205 which I may have already found. The more I kept thinking about it the more a diesel just made sense, I plan to drive this thing, alot, when it's done and the power and realiability from the cummins seemed to be the way to go. Plus how many full vert cummins K5's are out there? Hopefully I'll get some pics up soon and better yet get rolling on the build again, Jacob constantly asks why "his" blazer isn't done yet :doah::D.

Good score. I saw you checking on sixb and blaming him.:haha:

Gotta blame somebody, right ;).
I've had the idea in my head for a while, and I love how his is coming together, I just never came across a good donor for a good price untill now. Plus I've fought the urge to "hot rod" my 2000 Ram, since I generally put 30-40k a year on it I really don't want to take any chances. Now I can have my K5 and my hot rod diesel all in one :D.

I was the same way with my first Duramax. Now my '07 has about 425 rwhp and built allison tranny.

Cool build:D
My thought are roughly the same as yours. I justify the expense by telling myself that I'm building my k5 to be around to take a beating by my grandkids kids:D It's no DD just a play rig for the rocky mountains.

Really kick as build man. Nice job. Very cute little son ya have too :). Keep up the progress. God knows it's hard to do.

Thanks man  finding the time lately has been next to impossible. Winter snowfall total of almost 100" has not helped (average amount is more like 18-25"s annual) .

Ok I won the fight with the camera, so here's some pics of the donor "battered ram" or "dented dodge" :D

Like I said not much salvagable on the outside :eek1:

The reason for purchase, the lengendary P-pumped 12 valve with 71k miles :D :D :D

and what it looked like at the end of the day

The engine is out now, as is anything else of value, the remains will be going to the scrap yard this week, most of the body and bed already made it there.
I think I have already found a t-case so next I have to locate a trans and then the fun can really start :D
