86 K5 -"Jacob's monster truck" with a Cummins swap

Looks great. How long did it take you to do it, prep time and spray time?

Keep up the good work.

Thanks ;)
Prep time will really depend on what kind of condition it's in to start with. I had originally intended on just painting the underside so I had power washed and degreaed first then wire wheeled it and then used med. scotch brite pads by hand. When I decided to line it I re-preped it all with 36 grit paper by hand.

Spray time is short, doing the underside is tough, I can't wait to shoot the tub because it will be soo much easier. To spray out a full gallon only takes a few minutes, the longest part is the clean up and the pre-taping etc.

That being said I have a few tips for anyone thinking about shooting their underside; tyvek hooded suits and a GOOD resiperator are your best friends. I could not imagine sraying this stuff and not having a resirator, it is STRONG, when I do the underside of my dad's Willy's I am going to find some sort of goggles as well, I had safety glasses and a face sheild but the fumes were killing my eyes. Granted spraying the underside is the worst possible conditions to work in, the truck was completly taped/ masked off and then covered by plastic, so your are basicly working in a tent. One other tip, don't do it by your self :doah:, have someone else help you. It would have been alot easier if I had someone to mix the second batch while I was finishing up the first gallon or to hold the gun while I am trying to get into position under the truck or to keep you from bumping the trigger and lining the edge of your fridge and work bench :doah::doah::doah:. Also make sure you have plenty of solvent on hand for clean up, acetone and xylene both work great.

How many gallons did it take to do the underside. In the process of trying to figure what product to use on mine

I used 2 gallons on mine. It is prety much the perfect amount, I even wasted about a quart total, 1 misfire and in trying to get into positon under the truck I had a little spill :doah: when my air lne got caught on something.

As far as the product goes, I have nothing but good things to say, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a DIY liner. I actually just ordered another 5 gallons of it last week, 3 of grey for my interior and another 2 of black for the underside of the Willy's wagon I'm building for my dad. Also you wont find a better guy to deal with then Bryan (Blaze), he definetly gets a big :thumb: on customer service and helpfullness.

what have you been up to lately? subscribed!

Work, work, and more work  which is not a bad thing (pays the bills better then being slow). Every weekend for the last month , I have either had to work or had a "event" in which we had to attend.

I have found time to put the frame back under the truck and will finish putting the suspension back in this week. I did actually pickup and start disassembling my 14 bolt on sunday and hopefully I will order up my gears and a detroit next week. :D

Well , I haven't gotten too much done lately , but I did have a few pics I hadn't posted of the frame back under the body, soo......

As always I have to include at least one pic with my buddy in it, Jake insisted I put the "giant" tires on the truck so he could see if they fit :D

Looking good! Good idea on the undercoating with al's, might have to try that myself. I put about 2 gallons on the interior of mine and it turned out nice.

Keep up the good work!

Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I have updated :doah:.

It was a busy summer this year between work, family and house stuff, but, I am back to work on the Blazer :D.

I now finally own a full vert (that's not a rust bucket) :woot::saweet: I cut the old top off this weekend and got 1 of the quater panels capped and the new old windsheild frame is in. I will post up some pics tonight, I'm just so happy I'm making progress again that I had to post ;)

I promised pics, so.................................
