89 K5 ls power on tons

Haven’t really done much lately besides drive it. Did get tube doors and seat covers. Reserved a cabin for blazer bash next year so now I need to finish a few things up between now and then.

Picked up an old TE winch cradle from a local member today. Going to try to get it installed and cruise working before this weekend.

Nope!!! That’s the crazy part, because it’s a lot cooler with the doors off even at low speeds.

Yeah... was an impulse buy. I been looking at the smitty bilt x2o, so I stopped by 4wheel parts to see if they had any upcoming sales. The proceeds to tell me that all the winches are going up in price at the end of the month. Still not sure if it was a sales tactic or he was serious.

ETA finished the winch/ bumper install, made some handles for the tube doors and wired up cruise. Still not working though, guess I’ll pixk up a new multifunction switch.

10K Smitty? Let me know how you like it, I just won the same winch at the BB raffle. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

Will do, I picked up the 12k. I’ve read mixed reviews on them, but the jeep guys seem to really like the new x20 series.

When you get the winch do you plan on hiding it behind the stock bumper??

I definitely want to do that for my 90 burb, and possibly on my 88 k5

Yeah it’s pretty well hidden, had to chop the bumper up some for the shackle mounts and fair lead. Also had to cut a window in the top to be able to use the remote and see the spool to guide rope on.

I have the 12k Smitty on the front of the Tahoe. It's been worth the money. It's been used on both trips to Moab, and countless other wheelin trips and situations over the last year and a half. It's strength is surprising, and there's been no issues. But it's not a Warn. I expect it to last me 4 or 5 years before it brakes, then I'll have to buy another. Where as with the Warn, fix it , rebuild it, and it will last the life of the rig.

Soo, I'm on to another dilemma.. After researching some it looks like the 97 80e I have in my blazer has a lower stall speed then the newer ls ones. It's not really lazy on the bottom end, but it could surely use more stall. More research led me down the rabbit hole of aftermarket converters. I have an old thunder racing reverse split cam and all the valvetrain to go with it sitting in my spare motor. Thinking about throwing it in and looking for around a 2500 stall to get it out the hole alittle better. I know we have more then a few ls swaps on this forum, hoping someone has experience with higher then stock stalls, I'm not really sure what the stall limitations are when you still want it to be cable offroad.
