Guys! Look how cool this is! We had a baby shower tonight and we received these kick ass nightmare based gifts. These images were all taken off my Facebook nightmare build album.

Good shower lots of good stuff but these were unique and I thought you guys would dig it.

Well shit.... the jimmy ran fine at blazer bash, ran fine on the way home, I parked it, started it today and it ran like shit. If you told me I had a plugged injecter or a dead cylinder I'd believe you. Felt like it had a miss and kinda surged sometimes. It was really rough in upper rpms. Any ideas? Still not using timing control.

Had that problem last camping trip on a cold start. Found a plug wire off.
Hmmm worth looking at.
That's about what it runs like. All rpms, all temps, drove it about 30 mins no change. I did switch from cam 2 to cam 3 it felt a hair better but it may be in my head...

Think shook like crazy under a good solid load at higher rpm so I limped it where it was going for trans work and told them "I know it's running like shit"

What wires are you guys running? I have the accel 8.8 wires might be time for a new set anyways

Also one of these days I need to sit down and figure out how to do the timing control

Yes you need to add timing control, it's stupid easy to setup. I run Taylor wires.

Also, if you run headers it's pretty common to cook a wire/boot and you'll start arching off the header. Run it at night in the dark and you'll see an arch....

Yeah just so many years with no issues it's weird when things pop up. I'll definitely look into it. Step 1 get it running right. Step 2 do timing control.

We went through several issues with Dave's white first gen you saw at BB. We had exhaust leaks, ground issues, power dips, vacuum issues etc. He was ready to put the carb on because all those little problems didn't effect how it drove with a carb.

I am pretty sure I have an exhaust leak but it's post my o2 sensor.

I hope I find time this weekend to dig into this thing a little

Did you weld an O2 bung? I only ask because that FiTech clamp is known to leak/cause issues.

@skunked I start it and it sits at afr of 12 and is stupid rough and rich smelling. If I rev it up to 2 k it smooths out and hits 13.5 then I let off and it plays in the 12s again.
This is cold. I only had a second with it today so that's all I could do.
Thoughts?

Being cold I don't see the problem with the 12sh figure.

If it's running rough I'm still leaning toward an ignition problem as the root cause.

Also check your IAC step value once it's warmed up.

Iac is at 8-9 warm in park. I did think to check that. I agree I'll look into ignition. I fired it up at my friends shop and he said " does that thing have a bad miss?"

if it's that obvious of a miss you have a plug, wire, cap/rotor problem going on.

had that issue with the old truck, damn cab was hitting the big HEI cap causing the cap to shift on the distributor.

We used an air hammer to gently make more room for the hei, id say I moved a big bubble about 2" back because of the same thing. I bet I cooked a wire or something

So is as the case lately, everything seems to run warmer than I like, I'm doing a trans service and adding a temp sensor in the pan. Today I found something cool and just for the hell of it thought I'd give it a shot.

Ground clearance isn't an issue in this truck so let's not open that discussion ;) plus this will likely be my tow vehicle for pb and not much of a wheeler.
