My buddy drove my truck and pulled a plug, he said they were black and I needed to lean it out. He pulled the afrs back to 14.5 at idle and told me to run it and let the plugs clean themself off.
(This is my mechanic not just some dude)
He said I was definitely losing a cylinder.
It dud smell rich AF

Ngk plugs. I'll have to remember what part number.
My target was at 13.5 and you could smell it

13.5 should be fine for target. I set my buddies 502 to 14.2 but mine is 13.5 IIRC.

I still think you have something else up, especially if your plugs are fouling.

After 45 mins of driving it lean it felt much better. Like the plugs were cleaning out. I'll still mess with it. Likely get new plugs, wires and a cap+rotor because that stuff is cheap and it never hurts to have fresh parts.

The guys on the fitech fb page looked at my learn % and other numbers and suggested I bump it to cam 3 and clear the fuel learn

Would you guys blow the money on the msd exreme cap and Rotor? It's like 70 vs 30 for the regular one. I have an msd high output coil.

No, in your shoes any money towards a distributor would be for a locked out distributor

Lol cap and rotor is cheaper.
You come set it up for me and i'd be happy to run it ;)

Can you just buy a locked out distributer? if so what one would i need?

will i lose the high output coil? would it be HEI style still? timing/ ignition stuff is not my strong point.
never cared to learn more than the basics.

Some distributors can be locked out and ran with Fitech. I've seen it done but I chose to use the MSD 85501 drop in distributor that plugs into the FiTech harness. Yes it plugs in, how much easier can it get?

you'll need an external coil with this distributor so if that's what you have you can still use that. There's a slight wiring difference with the coil, one quick change on the handheld and you're in business.

I dont even recall there being a harness/plug for that. I'll look into this.

oh yes i recall those wires, I will look into this. I will start with plugs and wires then start looking at upgrades.
