Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

6-8 is ideal-ish* for a factory sbc.

* When I say "ish" there are many other factors that could dicktate otherwise... :screwy:

Keep in mind that this is a TBI truck with computer controlled timing. Factory timing on it with the timing wire disconnected is 0*. Lots of folks with the TBI motors say they run retter with up to 4* advance.

I think its way better as is. I may play with it a few degrees each way just for giggles. Its not hard. I do need to break down and get a better timing light though.

Trucks been running great. Found out I need to retorque a few things (never did the ubolts:whistle:). Unfortunetly it looks like I'll be driving it most of this winter:doah::confused: . But I guess its a truck:dunno: So theres no reason not to. Its gonna rust eventually either way being in iowa. I cant get the other truck fixed up to reliable till tax time. I really wish I would have done the undercoat at least in a few key areas while I had the chance. I'm debating what way to go at tax time. I can go 5 ways

1. put 5.3 in burb ( I really like this one:rolleyes:)
2. do lower gears in burb and fix axles under the CC (this one gets the most done)
3. fix axles under CC and pay off some other stuff (boring but needed)
4. buy new bed cause mine sucks and the GF and me are having back issues. (once again, boring but needed)
5. put all the money into the CC (tons, H1's, and 37" militarys)(funnest but most unneeded and impractical)

Decisions suck!

You could at least shoot the underneath with some cheapo undercoating in a can in the few "key" areas, and then spray some type of oil on everything. THeres a thread on here about different oil people use to block the salt. Idk what it was called though.

I'll trade you motors, that will solve the undercoating issue. My rust free Cali truck is, in more recent weeks, undercoating itself. Apparently a failed 1 piece rear main will do that. I was unaware of this feature, but would be happy to work out a deal with you:whistle:

OOoooo Ill also trade you my 208, it also has this undercoating feature:D That rig would be indestructable.....

If you want all the undercoating you'll need, i'll you my Master Cylinder (f'd cap), PS pump and Lines, TBI 350 with blown rear main, strong rebuilt 4l80e that has been coated in ATF for 30k, leaking xfer case.....oh, and don't forget the newly installed 14FF with leaking pinion seal. Other than the standard coolant seepage, i think that about covers it :haha:

Get the new bed, then pay off the bills. I hate to sound boring but its the most practical thing to do. Plus that new bed will net you less back pain and better sleep keeping you motivated to keep working on the trucks.

Vote for bed as well. A new bed made my life soo much better. No more back pains, fall asleep almost 2 min after I hit the pillow every night. :thumb:

part that sucks is I paid 1k for this matteress last year at tax time:doah: dished in the middle in a month. Bought the floor model though so no warranty or return:confused: I like the bed idea too, but...... I mean....

Its so awesome

My 241 is currently following the self lube plan as well.

Ugh...gotta be responsible...but toys are fun.
I'm not help. I just bought a .357 Magnum the other day...

set $200 aside 10 minutes ago for a RRA advanced half quad free float handgaurd myself, toys are fun:thumb: coulda got a rear axle for the CC for that.

Well the dilema is solved. We checked out a bed today and decided to finance the one we want. $40 month. So the tax cash will be divided between her car (much needed) and the CC. Burbs left out for now:confused: exept maybe some speakers:rolleyes:

I retorqued the u bolts yesterday (since I never did it after the lift:rolleyes:) and found that they REALLY needed it. A few of them got a full turn or better. with one getting almost 2:eek1: I'd been wondering what a certain clunk was under the front end for a while. thats what made me think of the u bolts. Then I remembered kert saying something about retorquing them in one of his threads. Glad I did.

Sad day today.

We got the white rust machine thursday and friday:doah: And there sits the crewcab unmoved while the burb is covered in snow slush and salt:confused::(:(

I dont trust the crew yet and the front brakes have yet to be bled due to stuck bleeders. gonna replace the calipers when I do the front bearings but life keeps getting in the way. Now the burb is suffering from my lack of time/motivation.
