Burnt burb resurrection (It's mine again!)

We got the white rust machine thursday and friday:doah: And there sits the crewcab unmoved while the burb is covered in snow slush and salt:confused::(:(

I dont trust the crew yet and the front brakes have yet to be bled due to stuck bleeders. gonna replace the calipers when I do the front bearings but life keeps getting in the way. Now the burb is suffering from my lack of time/motivation.

I almost didn't take my dmax out today because of that. But I needed K-1 and floor dry so that wasn't gonna be taken inside my hhr.

Figured I'd post this up on all three build threads of mine:waytogo:

even more right now since the blazer is running on open headers :D

I started the first version of a stereo install finally. syatem will be as folllows,

current kenwood deck, Kdc-348u

Jbl gto628 6 1/2's

Jbl gto928 6x9's

2 Kenwood kfc-w3003 12" subs mounted isobaric in a 3.1 cubic foot ported box.

Kenwood kac-749s 4 channel amp for jbls

Kenwood kac-729s 2 channel amp for subs

temporarily stock dash speakers running of the deck for front fill. will be gto series 3 1/2's or 4"'s later

I will be trying my hand at a custom center console to house the amps with fans for cooling and access door for adjustments. Plus a padded top that opens for storage and discs. I havent gotten far yet  but I have nearly all the stuff right here and ready. I need wood, speaker wire, cooling fans, and a few other odds & ends. Hope to get a good start today or tomorrow

Wow, I just noticed how dirty the floor was in my truck:doah: And the fact that I had one of the boxes of speakers upside down:haha:

Bitchin rick! I love doing stereo stuff. Should sound pretty kickass

I'm not sure about the sub box. I've never used a box calculator before. I input all the numbers and it said 3.1 cubic foot with a 17"L 6"D port. we'll see what it does:dunno: the factory specs were pretty vauge. Said 1.5 CF sealed and 1.5 CF ported and didnt even list a port size. never seen both numbers the same before and a port size is kind of important.. hope the box calc I found is good

I still have to clean my floors:rolleyes: But I got a good start on the new center console today. bottom plate done. there are some braces and lift blocks under it that I'll get pics of some other time. forgot camera during the work. Shifter boot will get screwed to the bottom of the hard wood top plate still coming.

I also turned the 4x4 shifter around so that it stands up instead of leaning forward.

I can get a couple of how it looks now. it was very simple to do too. would have taken me about 2 minutes if I would have had my little impact with me. 4 bolts, and a cotter pin:waytogo:

update bump..

killer 'burb Rick...:waytogo:

love to have one that nice for a DD...

thank you :thumb:
I was recently debating trying to sell it on ebay for some astronomical price like $15k 'buy it now' to see if it would sell. but I'm afraid it would:haha: I've seen worse go for more. I had it in my head that I wanted to buy a NEW tundra again. I loved my old one but I Just cant see loosing my burb. its been my dream truck since WAY before the tundra was even thought of.

Oh and I forgot to get them pics of the shifter. I'll get them tonight.

heres a few pictures of the shifter turned around. Pull the bolts circled in yellow out (4 of them) and remove the plate. the shifter will move all the way to the drivers side and then just pull the pin circled in red, turn shifter around, and reinstall everything. literally takes 5-10 minutes.

edit: I guess the bolts became circled in red before I saved :)

heres a little update. Its too fricken COLD to get much done:rolleyes:

The red area will be a vent of some sort directing the floor heat back to the floor. The green area will be a board going all the way across and gasketed to keep heat from going back and burning up the amps

Plan is to cover the sides with a blue material of some sort (gotta checkout hobby lobby) that match's the interior and a foam padding about 3/4" thick. Then a hardwood top piece going up the back across the top and down all the way to the floor duct under the dash. A small tray under a hinged top will hold a few cd's and whatever else. the top lid may be pad and material:dunno: I wont know till I see how well it works to set my arm on. I may get rid of the 2 inner arm rests yet also.

I'm digging it Rick :waytogo:

Can't wait to see what it looks like with the foam and material on it
