Unless it’s allowing less fuel to fill when warmer, more when cooler appearing to be the change in mileage

There's some chance of that regardless of temperature. Because the pump doesn't shut off when the tank is full I have to listen at the fill nozzle for when I hear the gas starting to back up into the fill hose and click the pump off manually. Otherwise it'll spurt a bunch of gas on the ground before it clicks the nozzle off. Based on my experience, that's probably just a gallon plus or minus depending on how far I feel like pushing it.

Yep, can’t do a mileage test with uncontrolled variables

I mean statistically if you run 100 tanks, it’ll even out to something pliably “average”

I always do that.
I run at least 5 preferably 10 thankfully and average out.
That eliminates the big difference between fill ups and makes the up to 1 gallon divided on 100s of gallons.

Started developing an issue. I've been having intermittent rough idle. Happened the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was fine for several days, but now it has started happening just about every other drive. For example, it was fine commuting in yesterday morning. On the way home it was idling rough on the first half of the drive. Then it was fine driving a short distance later that night. This morning it was idling rough again, but there was one stop light it idled fine. Aside from idle, I only notice a little bit of stumble on hard acceleration. Every other driving condition is smooth.

The gauge display for the PF4 doesn't show anything obvious. I'm thinking it's gotta be something ignition related. Any thoughts?

Mine does it too. Started at the software update

I haven't changed software.

This thing goes thru a quart of oil about every 400 miles. None of it hits the ground.

I'm wondering if I have fouled plug(s) or O2 sensor. Gonna pull plugs later today. They've only been in for about 5000 miles; installed in December.

Showed that pic to a buddy of mine that's got an SAE cert. Says it looks like aluminum from detonation..

You have a borescope?

Looks like an oil burner to me. My old 307 used to foul plugs like that monthly.

Being a broke high school student I just pulled the two offending plugs out cleaned them up in the sandblast cabinet at school. A little carb cleaner to flush out any sand, blow out with the air and screwed them back in.

It burned it so quick putting new plugs in was pointless.

If it's only happening on two cylinders you could consider using a couple anti-fouler devices. It only prolongs the problem though.

I don't think leaky valve seals would cause that kind of build up.

2 were bad, #3 above is the worst.

Cleaned up the plugs with a pick and wire brush and the idle is smooth.

The crew cab had one of those nonfouler things installed by previous owner and it actually blew out of the block. Kinda soured me on them.

This motor doesn't smoke like others I've seen with leaky valve seals. It does smoke on the second start up of the day. I also see smoke on upshift if accelerating hard.

I recently noticed some detonation on hard acceleration and I fattened up the afr, lowered acceleration timing advance, and it's gone away now.

Guess we'll be seeing about a "new" motor.

I am very disappoint the PF4 didn't prevent this.

I'm not a fan of the anti-fouler things either. My father in law had 8 on the 283 in his '64 Chevelle. I about fell over when I found them. Stupid thing still ran ok. It was lacking power for sure, but it ran.

I think the most you are supposed to run is 2 on a V8.

It sure looks like it's pushing past the rings on those holes.

Probably pushing past everything on those holes. Needs an STP oil change
