Has anyone machined a TH400/NP205 short adapter to mate with a 4L80 and D60 Question

well the tranny is a no go guy wont return my calls at all..hopefully nothing happened to him  called AA and the adaptor ready to go on $430 to my door! what would I need to do to the stock th400 adaptor on ebay for $230 to my door to make it work?

well you dont do anything to the adaptor if you use the 2wd fixed yoke shaft like i have.

its all done in the spacer.

but if direct bolt to 4l80-e then in the begining of this thread somplace there is the specs of the seal lip diffrence. just need to mill it down a tiny bit.

but this all depends on the tranny tail shaft you get. need to see that first.

thats what I am asking WHICH transmission should I be looking for?

what ever you can find and get a deal on would be best.

i tend to see more fixed yoke 2wd trannys avalible my self. then its just a 1 1/4" thick spacer and bolt it up.

cool this is what I was wanting to know...you still selling those spacers? :D

never got anymore made to sell.

but its super easy .

take tail cone and adaptor with you. tell them 1 end to match tail cone . then other end to recive the spacer. dont forget the big ring on each were it bolts to tranny. then pop the 6 holes in it and done.

sweet...I got a line on a couple th400/np205 dadaptors in the $100-$125 range.... pretty much any machinist can modify it or do I gotta send it to someone who has done it before? sorry if I'm asking retarded questions I just wanna make sure.:doah:

ok got a th400/np205 adaptor coming for $100....and the guy finally called me back on the trans he had lost his phone! so I am getting it tommorow. will it be a problem getting the brake deal off the back? it is off of a R.V.

OK picked up the 4L80e today pulled the tailshaft off and it wasnt the fully threaded output shaft I was hoping for. the Brake deal slid right off. here are the pics point me in the right direction

looks like the one i have.

swap the plug to solid were the oring is .

get a spacer cut to make up the diffrence.

and bolt on and go.

take your tcase and adaptor and slide it on the tranny. then measure the gap. should be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 " thick. easy to make.

post # 15 here pic of my spacer. / post 22 of the 2 lip diamators to cut in spacer / post 52 or spacer thin one. just need thicker / post 82 part # for plug /

5 plus years ago. sorry i dont know.

but easy take a bolt with you that come out. match the thread.

add the length of the spacer and you should be fine.

and if i recall by my pics my friend that made the spacer used button head allen drive bolts for the tigth clearence.

and i checked my spare 4l80-e shafts to day.

the shaft you have is exactly like the 2 i have used with the spacer like i had made. so you will be fine.
