Horton, driveshaft opinions wanted

Don't know how I missed this Eric. Nice build, I like the fab work, and the angled tubing braces on the leaf mounts look real nice, quality work.

Well this is BS, im interested now!!! hahaha :haha:

FINE

Okay so I posted pics of my old blazer that I was wheeling at the time. All the pics I have posted so far are when Horton was owned by my friend Pat.

I don't have any pics of the narrowing front I will try to take some later when I rework it some.

But lets catch up to where it came into my possession.

Pat moved to Utah to go to school and so this poor rig just kind of sat around, well he meets a girl, ends up marrying her.

She hates his truck. She is from California and really truly though Idaho was full of inbred redneck hillbilly morons. Lifted Chevy trucks only amplified that idea for her. So she really hated the truck. Well Pat decides to part the truck out. He sold the axles wheels tires and a couple other things. I took it to my shop (at the time) and took it all apart.

My blazer which was beat to death was literally falling apart. Every panel was dented no cage interior was shot. So Pat and I come to a mutual agreement that our labor should not just be junked, that would be a sin in our minds. So I ended up with the truck.

I took out my axles which were a 60/14b both with detroits, my steering, transfer case transmission and some other things and the swap began.

Now you have to wait cause I am still trying to find some pics of the swap :doah:

I'd have got rid off her before the truck........just saying

maybe she's more flexible than horton's suspension? that'd be worth keeping around. :woot:

That only goes so far... Eventually you have to do your guy stuff... And having a female that gets in the way of you doing what makes you happy, gets old fast...

Needed to tell her to get over the whole truck thing and get back in the kitchen and make him a sammich...

She just hates trucks in general, too redneck for her, she wants a Jeep.

I mean she is a girl :D

So Pat is planning on building a Jeep when he gets done with school

Sounds like my wife . Minus the Korean part. But she pays the bills on my truck parts so I don't judge lol

So I realized tonight I let this thread go a bit, so we are caught up to the point that I got the truck ( Horton) from my buddy Pat and was swapping stuff from my blazer onto it.

Well suffice it to say I got everything swapped and installed a doubler. Which I will take pics of tomorrow and post them

so putting this is an a place holder so I can come back and post pics of the doubler and the x member I built and how I modded the stock one.

So went outside today and took some pics of the crossmember

the second one I built

This is flat plate I cut and welded together, why bushings on the outside of the frame. Looked like it would work good, seems to be holding up just fine

This is a pic of the first crossmember, its a stock crossmember that I modified to sit flat on the top of the bottom leg of the frame. It was braced where I cut the factory bracing off. This was a quick way to get the doubler in and I haven't changed it.

I would like to tie these two x members in together. But they work for now and I have a hard time fixing what aint broke even if it looks hack
