If you were going to build a small tube buggy....

I have gotten wasted off my a$$ and built some pretty cool bumpers and other stuff.

Idk what you would have to be on to build something like that...

I have a friend that's always building something weird. Some of its hack, some is pretty cool. He had a wrecked crotch rocket and a go cart with no engine. Took the engine and back wheel of the crotch rocket and attached it to the go cart. While it didn't look as hack as the one in the link it was wicked fast and dangerous. He dismantled it after one ride because it was just too dangerous.

That sounds nuts lol.

Post flagged?

It has been flagged a number of times. Pontiac GTP, 406hp supercharged v6, built trans, accident totaled the car. Minimal damage from the pictures. $3k.

I could see that in a single seat buggy. I am tempted to buy it. Part the car out and build around it.

that would be insane :eek1:

do it :D

Start with toyota truck, scrap/sell body parts, use vin and frame rails just to get title and tag.

This x100,000:waytogo: go with a late 80's body style (up to 87-88 I think ) solid front axle pickup or 4runner, with a 22r/22re and just use all the drivetrain...

modify the main part of the frame (mostly boxed, stock:D) to run with suspension of your choice and tube design .

keep the track width down by deeper BS wheels if you even change them.

you can always save up for an engine swap later and beat it for now. there's adapters to put a bunch of motors in them trucks. and theres rusty A$$ ones everywhere that the body is chit but the running gears fine for cheap

1985 yota's were the last year with factory solid front axles and first year with 22re. My buddy has a 22re with a cam and header and it straight rips it up. It should be noted he is running 37's with 5.29 gears too. The frame can easily be swapped for tube also.

Been thinking about this more and more lately.

I think i want to officially finish the blazer this winter (finish as in no more big fancy changes, just maintaining it and fun mods like making it more perdy)

I want to do a 2 seater small tube buggy. I want to run like a 37" tire and was thinking a set of 3/4 ton axles, 14ff and 8 lug 10b etc. (unless i find a wicked deal on a 60)

Still liking the fwd engine turned sideways, maybe a 3.8 v6? or at that point should i just do a v8? I was thinking mid engine, like behind the seats...

My thought on 37s and 3/4 tons would be cheap axles and beadlocks/tires if i do military take setup..

I neeed more ideas. Im not looking to put a massive amount of money into it right off the bat. I think itd be wicked awesome to have like $6k into a small tube buggy ( i think i could do it if im patient and look for deals)

I'd start with a trashed m1008 or one of the other 1 1/4 ton mil trucks. You get your axles and drivetrain. You're talking about a tube buggy for not dunes right?

If its small you can just run h1s without re centering. It'll give you a tree friendly narrow track.

Finish it off with panels from something like craig's k5.

Thats the thing, id still like to make it work in the sand like bretts rig. So i still want some power and go fast ability. But i do want it to be a mostly trail rig.

I dont think i want a big heavy drivetrain though. I would really love to find a smashed turbo sonic like mine and rob the motor and trans. 148 hp and IIRC almost 200 ft lbs of torque in a rig that would weigh under 2000 lbs would be pretty awesome. (and 30+ mpg while wheeling would be cool)
