Introductions & Greetings

You have definitely found the right place.
Hope you get a sweet deal. Pics never hurt. :sign29:

Hey everybody!

I used to be a member years and years ago when I was stationed out in San Diego. I had an 87 K5 Blazer but the motor blew up and I didn't have the money to fix it. I recently bought a 1990 V2500 Suburban 4x4 and I'm turning it into a camping / road trip truck. I'm starting with a driveline swap. I have a 5.3L engine and a 6L80E transmission out of a 2013 Silverado that I'm about to swap into it. Here's a link to my build thread, there's more pics in my albums.

Whats up guys, Just joined the club. Bought my first K5 blazer. found it in a garage. the thing is totally stock and in insane shape. only 135K original miles on it! She's a beauty!

Hi Y'all!

I am re-introducing myself to this forum after being away for a few years. Life kind-of took over with work/family and whatnot. Unfortunately the K5 has suffered a bit in the TLC department and I have re-committed to toolin' around on her again.

Living in AZ, it was not hard to find a good bodied, fairly rust free salvage-yard truck. From there I went to town from the bottom up...

- New spider gears front and back.
- New tight clutch pack in rear 3:73 LSD
- New Moser rear axles
- New Lock-Right Luncbox in front diff
- Converted shift on fly 4x to Warn Premium Manual hubs
- New Springs & Shocks w/ 2.5" lift and 33" M/T's
- Rebuilt NP208
- Rebuilt 700R4
- New GM Goodrich 350 power plant & 4 core Radiator
- Upgraded to non-toxic AC
- Added Spare battery and isolator
- Custom front and rear bumpers with swing-out tire, gas can holders in rear and 12K/lb winch and halogens in front
- Added front and rear 2" receivers
- Converted rear window from power to CRANK...way better.

***Now after solid use over the years the interior is deteriorating on me. Looking for solid suggestions on interior simplification/upgrades/parts recommendations.....also looking at LED or HID conversation running lights.....possible interior roll bar, etc.

Looking forward to chattin' it up with you all again! Thanks for having me back!

greetings everyone, new to the forum but lurked a bit! wanted a K5 forever, never had the time or money to grab one thanks to a wreck last year my wife was in - once insurance check came we decided blazer it is! picked up a nice mechanically sound 1990 K5 Silverado and have been slowly learning to work on things more. had it a little over a year now and its been very reliable - had a window motor die recently and funds are tight (wife is still injured/out of work - 14 months later) so small fixes are all it can get for the moment! either way got some plans for once she is back fully on her feet and might have some questions along the way I'm sure!

Looks awesome, hope to see a build thread in the driveway section with lots of pics.

I love clean V series Blazers.

Martin

it was well taken care of prior to us getting, has a new remanufactured motor in it about 15k ago, guy who owned it is a 30+ year mechanic - was his wifes daily driver so she'd bring it home "this is doing this" and he'd fix it up, can tell they really liked it. once spring comes and it gets cleaned up I'll be sure to take some better photos the more "artsy" ones above were me testing out a vintage lens messing around. I still see them around town randomly and the smile on their faces seeing that it didn't just get wrecked and isn't ruined since they last saw it and we are keeping it up - says a lot about what they said about it being true.

a couple noteworthy things that need fixed/I want to replace:
passenger door has a dent in it from the past
all outside trim could use replacing as well
all weatherstripping needs replaced
need to pull and check out the window regulator/motor/etc in both windows and plan on running relays to them/headlights when that time comes

eventually replacing out both front/rear seats and new carpet on the interior (it is not gross or anything but could use it! after almost 30 years of wear)

hopefully this spring proper build thread can be started! (14 months and counting since wife's wreck not sure when/if she might be returning to work though!)

Hello everyone, just joined the forum. I've lurked the forum for awhile and finally decided to join. I have a 77 K10 that I bought a couple years ago and have been slowly fixing/building it. The PO was a real genius if you know what I mean.
Originally I bought the truck as a small project to work on and do some mild off-roading. As thing went, it started snowballing. At the time I had only worked on motorcycles so I had a lot to learn. Once I got the truck home, did some minor maintenance, fixed the exhaust, turns out the motor wash trashed. I ended up building a 383 stroker for it right off the bat.
After I got the motor all built up I started off-roading with my buddy from work. At first I was convinced that I would only do some mild off-roading but once again I was wrong. Started off-roading more and more and as of right now I have a 1 ton swap, doubler, nv4500 swap in the mix. I've used this site a ton and I gotta say this forum has some of the best information out there for our rigs.
