Metal's LSx swap; Finally up and running!

I think I may hook the PCM up to battery power from the original orange wires that powered the 87 pcm. That will put it on ots own fused circuit.

Original harness:
A7: fuel pump relay control: guess I can snip that off at the bulk head?

Yes

B10: p/n switch. Can I just run that wire to the LSx pcm p/n wire and solder together?

That's what I did.

B1 & c16: splice together to one wire with B+. Potential lsx PCM power. If I dont route it that way I guess I can just snip off at bulk head.

As long as that's not what's powering the whole system. It should have a relay to power the computer, and then another relay to power the fuel pump.

C9: crank input. Runs to the bulk head. Do I need this wire?

Garbage

A6: SES. I believe I can solder that straight to SES light on new PCM.

Yes

B8 A/C on: runs to EVAP pressure switch. I cant find the other end of the connector anywhere. Do I need this wire? Connector is near the bulkhead and runs into other engine connectors. Cant find where the other half connects or goes to.

Also garbage.

Any advice?

Replied in there.

With the fuel line fittings , I'm pretty sure you just Google like, "tbi to an fittings" or something like that and that will do it.

I just keep finding the fittings that go to the TBI unit itself. They are AN to TBI unit adaptors. To replace the factory brass fittings.

Oh I see what your saying. Never mind. I'm pretty sure they also make the other kind. Otherwise, just use the compression fitting style ones and you will be fine.

I was actually looking at that tread earlier, haha.

I guess I will just order them and see if they fit. For some reason I had it set in my mind the fuel tank side was a different size.

I took the factory braided hoses to ACE and I found one npt fitting that threaded in. The other was metric. According to the parts in the link you send me they are both metric. Kinda weird. Maybe the taper in the NPT fitting I threaded in made it just feel like it fit.

You can call summit they have the fitting. I used them on mine at the sending unit.

The earl's fittings work perfect. I was going to wait to update until my fuel lines were finished.

I did get my frame all fixed up over the weekend.

Those are the ones I used. Just didn't look up the part #'s

alt wiring

So I have the lsx harness setup with the two wires for the pcm to control the alt. I like that setup and want to keep it that way.

Can I take and put my original alt wire and attach it to the terminal behind the plastic box where the lsx alt wire runs to? I am still confused on how to make my stock volt gauge work with this setup.

I put my original alt wire on the back of the alt on the stud. I don't remember how the gauge gets its juice, but mine works fine and I didn't even try. Lol

Hmmm. What does the brown wire do then?

I only wanted to put the original wire behind the plastic box so it looks clean. The lsx harness has that nice little rubber cover but I dont think two wires will fit behind it. Maybe I am just being OCD about it.

Geesh to be honest, I really don't remember. I do remember doing lots of googling about ls alternators though.

I Googled on and off for a few days. Most topics cover the one wire setup. Due the the ambiguous diagrams for our years of trucks its hard to trace things out. I guess I will just see what happens between trial and error.

Thanks for the info though!

If I have a chance this weekend I will look at mine and see if I can tell you had it is done.

Looks like I used the ls plug on the alt. Then run a large gauge wire from the stud to a junction block on the firewall on the passenger side that I added. It's from the 07. Which is then tied into the small junction block on the driver side firewall (factory on your truck). You should be able to trace the wires back on that plug. One of them should go back to the little junction block on the firewall. Trying to remember but I think one went down to the starter and maybe the battery. You should not need the old alt. plug. So all you need to be sure you do is tie into the one that feed 12 volts (hot wire) back to the block. I my have a few pic of how I did it if you need them.
