May I suggest moving to the 7100 shock for the save of adjustability? I don't think you need a larger shock but I bet your on the cusp of that recommendation just because of the sheer mass..

What is the price breakdown on those? I should be looking at shocks soon.

They're around 170-190$ a shock depending on if you get a resi or not. They're not too much of a diversion from the 5100 series aside rod ends and the lengths, there are short body versions that should be simple to retrofit. The fact that they're user serviceable is nice.

I'm running an audiovox prestige remote start in my Burb, and it's been flawless for years after I did the install. Even has 2 extra channels that I used for timer high beams

That's exactly what Stephen and I talked about. There's a valving he's searching for that would tend to suit a heavy truck like mine, and save me going to a larger body and thus substantially more expensive.
Very interesting. Are you using the remote start on your diesel? Does it have a delay for glow plugs?

The shocks he had me put on my SAS diesel were the Bilstein "Super Duty" series as he put it. I wonder if that's the same ones.

Yes. I think I'm headed down the same path. Thank you for blazing the trail.

I've built it ten times in my head. Working toward the real thing.

    Well, that shouldn't be there...

I was headed to work on a converted International school bus when the dipsh*t in front of us spilled part of his load of scrap metal. No lanes available and no time to brake, a chunk of #5 rebar found my rear driver tire.

Of course, we were not in a great part of town, so while the wife was on overwatch I did what had to be the fastest tire change in my life. Back rolling and on to the job in 14 minutes. Turned out the bus just needed a good charge and cleaned battery terminals to get running.

    Calling Discount Tire tomorrow.

I have the full replacement certs, so they should. That program has always worked well for me. On one hand, I curse the dude who isn't adult enough to keep his stuff together and not spill parts in the road. On the other hand, I'll get a new tire from this.

    "Thanks, irresponsible scrap metal guy."

I once met a guy pulling a wildly overloaded trailer of scrap iron, who was crossing the center line. He kept getting closer, so I swerved onto the shoulder. I luckily avoided him, but caught the right side rear view mirror on my brand new service truck on a mail box. Scared the crap out of me. Sounded like a shot gun blast.

They had the tire that same morning. I'd hate to think what would have happened if I was driving the car.

Wow :eek1:. That could have been a lot worse then just needing a new tire.
