PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
rattle can truck bed liner, for structural integrity :rotfl:
Lol i may try to patch some sheet metal just for the experence....

I pulled off the drivers side beam and made a couple corrections and welded that sucker on there solid. I also started pulling the trim and glue off so things are ready to paint when the time comes.

All these colors are great. I'll start looking around for whats relatively easy to find. I bet i end up rustoleum white because its EASY to get by the gallon and i can just spray it on...

Or maybe some kind of camo... might hide body damage a little ;)

Are you worried the fenders will rip from the slider?

not really, the body will be rigid with the frame. and if it starts to rip i'll grind and weld it up again... there's really no other way to do it from what i could see. since i cut 8" off the bottom of the truck it took out all the lower mounting points for the fender.

a couple other guys on here have done the same thing and i haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

I heard of people having problems with them ripping so I didn't weld them, a fastener or two would have been another option and one I might do myself. Secondly I wanted to be able to remove the front clip when needed.

fair enough, i might look into that some day, its not hard to cut a weld and add a gap. eventually i'll narrow the front end and i see lots of cutting when that happens.

The slider projects I've been personally involved with that had the fenders welded to the sliders all tore off. One was my buddy's K30 regular cab pickup and the other was my old K5.

Just the front fenders? Or bed sides also? I have this welded to the door frame also because of how high i had to cut.. Did it just bust the welds or actually rip the fender or rip the fender off the vehicle?

Only had trouble with the front fenders. No problem with the bed sides on a K5.

I have to ask now, since I might forget to look at BB18, did you make the floor basically flat from the seat mount out? I have to remember to look at how your work comes out, since I may need to copy it!

I still have to fiure out the floor i have about a 1" gap currently. I need to pull the seat and carpet and figure out a plan. I had lasik eye surgery yesterday so im out of the fabrication business for a week or so...

That's how mine are except a bit more tucked in. I just cut the fender a bit lower, and kind of lift shoved it into place. Now it's kind of pinched in there. It does well enough.

So much spot welding.

I had to drive this thing to home depot because my grill died and ran into another square.

Kinda fun driving when you can see the road through the holes in the floor. I need to get the support legs and patch the floors on this asap

Decided to clean my frame, and pull off the rest of the trim and grind out some rust... turns out ill be building a cab corner from sheet metal.... also looks like this slider could be structural. Actually not could be it will be structural. And im glad i didnt have to trust that seatbelt. Yikes! That will be tied into the slider for sure.

Oh and funny enough the passenger side is like rust free lol go figure ;)
