PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
The turning them is an issue for me unless i cut the shit out of the body beams, with all the rust im nervous about doing that. Also with angles i need to mount right at the bottom of the frame.

just find some 4x4 or 5x5 plates and turn them on a 45 degree angle, burn them in. Make sure to pull your fuel lines away from the frame before you do that.

Wut? No you have to cut the diamond shape:haha:.

Trust me Joey it looks way better like that. Even if you have to make em wider and cut the extra off on the bottom.

the question was do i need to turn them at an angle to make a diamond or if i could line them up flush with the bottom of the frame as a flat square. is there any benefit to having them in a diamond shape is what i'm looking to figure out

Turn the squares cut off the excess off.

I cut the top of this off.

Or be super cool and bend the excess under the frame

In our situation not really.

just call me Captain Obvious :rotfl:

@the_blaze can't you just notch whatever body supports (body beams?) are hanging down so the supports contact the frame better?

Yes, and i will notch it a little but to weld behind it it will be more than a notch and thats where i get concerned about the floor sagging

I assume you'll be welding in a cage with the seats cage mounted right?

Also, if you notch it right (nice and tight) it can be welded to the supports anyway.

yes and yes eventually,

the problem is if i notch it tight so i could weld it to the supports i wont be able to get my welder behind it... i need to get under it and visualize what exactly i need to do and the easiest way to do it... i just spoke to erik and he made some valid points i need to look at.

Any of you guys know what gauge sheet metal the floors and body panels are on these things?

I think probably 18 gauge but it's stamped which helps rigidity. For replacement floor peices I'd be inclined to 14 gauge

Ok everyone ready to cringe.... im laying these flat... it will give me the MOST amount of contact surface and allow for the most adjustments for the legs...

Also sticking one right under the body mount. I assume ill never need to get to that again lol
