PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
I know on my 78 its all one. If its all one part on the late 80s then im golden because its a $20 part.

@blazinzuk if you get a change will you check it out and send me some pics?
This is the same one I have and sold one already.
$20 is less than what I got for it. But I included the rubber part as well so I guess I was fair

Finally got around to fixing my hanging brake caliper. It was so stuck before it was hard to spin my 40 by hand and it made awful moaning sounds. It has been bugging me since i did the d60 swap. It is sooooo much better now. Stops better, no noise, can easily spin the tire... finally lol no idea why it was so low on my list of things to fix.
I also finally got my wheeling tires back on.

Going to take this out tomorrow to mini moab for a shake down with @72gmck5

Still making that moaning noise from time to time, now i think its the pads.... so i guess I'll look for "the ultimate d60 pads"

Went wheeling today and all the big issues seem to be resolved.

A new bug developed. I think the bolt that goes through the frame for the top of the shock has wallowed out the frame and it was making a clicking/tinking sound that was driving me nuts. Not really sure how to fix that but i will figure something out.

Unrelated... lets talk front shackles.
When i do the abomb bumper i assume i should go ahead and upgrade the shackles and frame mount to the heavy duty stuff.

Should i stick with the stock length shackle or go a little longer? Pros / cons?

Also i want to say for anyone thinking of changing motor mounts.... i have wheeled with stock mounts for years, then worn stock and broken mounts and now the ORD (basically solid) mounts and i can say the heavy duty ORD mounts make a huge difference.
the truck seems more solid and when crawling up things its way smoother. doing burnouts feels better.
on a wheeling rig these were a pretty great upgrade i would do again on another wheeler.

you guys with D60s, do you have a brake pad you prefer? something super grippy that doesn't make noise?

I use Wagner Thermoquiet. I had done some searching myself and found that one seemed to be mentioned the most here and on Pirate.

Thats what im seeing. Pretty sure I'll give the Wagners a try

So not blazer related but still a cool story.

My gf decided she wanted a scout and today we found "the scout". Body and floors are amazing and rust free, frame is rust free really good rig...

I told her not to get it though because of the amount of work it needs to fix the meth head stuff the previous owner did but she insisted it was the one. And to be honest it will be a great truck after a ton of work .

Check out these crazy custom repairs and mods and tell me if the words "what in the crystal meth happened here???" are the only words that come to mind...

First the guy threw the 392 big engine in when this originally had a tiny slant 4 and had to cut the firewall to fit and i will just let the rest speak for itself.

How do the rear shackles work. There’s no bolt
looks like they welded a bolt to the plate on one side and the other side they drilled holes and added a nut.
depending on the direction leah wants to go i will be donating brand new shackles that actually fit this thing front and rear... i don't want this even sitting at my house in this condition. i don't want anyone to think i'm a hack like this lol
@blazinzuk Leah is on here just not a paid membership yet. i think its @HereForThePics (she says she will change her user name) even though its an international scout and not a g i told her to start a thread. we all know eventually it will have gm axles and a full ls swap.... (easiest way to go)

@the_blaze So it doesn't need brand new shackles. There is not a eventually point of this build. Just start it now, the axles are wrong, the steering is ????? the suspension is just as bad.

The body and frame is nice, the rest is scrap metal, seriously. Don't even bother figuring out how to make it work. Pull it all off, put it on jack stand start measuring and fitting the LS and GM axles. I would not even leaf spring it.

Ya know that bigger shop you have been wanting........

I'd use wagoneer axles unless it's going extreme. Then tons but up to 35s I would run waggys or even Toyota axles. Maybe find a high pinion 60 and retube it to use as a rear axle.

She will make a build thread and we can go nuts on there.

One thing is it doesn't have power or disk brakes so doing a more modern axle swap may not be real simple
