PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
Because I'm the way I am.... I found some nice rust free doors to chop up. Has all my power options and they are in decent enough shape. My current doors are so rusty I don't think I even have enough metal to really weld to.

Has anyone on here boatsided their rigs? I think I can actually cut above the bottom bolt holes on the door and miss the lowest parts of the guts. My only concern is if it's a bad idea to just have one bolt in the bottom of the door.

My other option (probably the one I'll go with) is cutting slightly below the bottom bolts.

Having these will be nice. I can cut and patch these doors and get them 100% ready for install then do the door swap and use these cuts as guidelines to cut the rest of the body.

Man that still takes a ton off the face of the door. At least 4-6" add that to the rockers I'll cut out and that's some significant cutting. I'm pumped and thrilled with what I may get in the end.

Cool I imagine I'll need to cut the loom and just pull the wires through. Once I cut the doors how I want them I imagine throwing them on a table to weld will be easier than sitting under them.

I have a birthday coming up, maybe I'll throw a birthday/ boatsiding patry and see how much a group of dudes could get done ;)

While I think of this let's take a second to enjoy the happy camper that will acquire this project one day.

Where would I get one of those shirts? I have a one month old daughter that needs one!

I'm pretty sure my step mom made it. I can find out where i got it and let you know.

That would be awesome if its not too much trouble, otherwise no worries and thanks for the reply. I Just thought it was pretty awesome! Can't wait until the car seat goes in the back of my k5 with the little one!

Side note, I'm a little concerned about something, what would cause diff fluid to push out the breather tube? I took a 2 hour drive in this thing and noticed it had burped and leaked down from the breather....

Those are my house walkin shoes.
I didnt plan on doing this it just sorta happened lol

I was worried that you wore loafers in public!!!!!!
Carry on...

I have no help here. The '72 K5 does this every time I get close to the state line, which is only 35 miles or so from my house. I put a fuel filter in the line, which barely helped. The line on it has a slope going up. I believe that for mine, it has something to do with speed of the gears. 4:56 gears with the pinion turning 2900 rpm.

Probably pretty crazy speeds with my 513s at 80 lol.

And my house walkin shoes are super old DCs that never leave the house

I need to find a way to do nice sheetmetal bends... any ideas? The one supply place open today doesn't do any bending

How long of a piece? Harbor freight sells a metal break, but it only is 24" wide.
