PLAN B

This build was 2 parts 1 i have a truck I made to pretty to wheel so I'm building an ugly one I can actually enjoy. And 2. My cousin has been trying to join us for blazer bash but his truck wont be ready so we are surprising him with this one
So first time i think i need to call bs on ORD.

I called and asked why they sell the psc kit for 200 more than most places. They told me "we don't actually sell their kit its our own kit we just use their parts" hmmmm they use their pictures/parts and description... hmmmm...

Anyone have any input on this? Ord wants like $1285 and summit wants $1085 free shipping and no taxes... are they the same kit or what?

Still window shopping but id like to save $ if i can
I would take that to mean that ORD doesn't sell the same "kit" as what you are finding. So maybe there is something different. (?) But ORD isn't in business to ONLY sell at the cheapest price. They will tell you that. But I know that they have reasonable prices on some things that can be bought elsewhere. If you feel confident in the parts that you are getting elsewhere, (specific selection) , then shop around. I personally like to buy from them when I need their help figuring out what to do, and I believe that you do so as well. ( from the little bit I know of you)

So I've never looked at the kits before as I just put together stuff. Tap my own box etc.

ORD appears to be the same as the stuff from summit. But if you read ORD does offer a size up option on the kit they sell. This will result in likely zero lag steering. It seems it costs about 40 bucks. But that might be enough to justify ORD charging more.

Rarely can a smaller company match summits prices. It's almost impossible

Oh yeah, i will typically spend a little extra for customer service.

I also like to support diy4x and ORD because they support ck5.

So i looked on psc website and their price is the same as ord.

I think summit just has a better price on the kit right now.

Anybody that wants to drop pictures of how they mounted their Rams feel free to do so. PB IS getting ram assist shortly.

It looks like people are welding tabs onto the diff cover.

That is what the picture was of it just happened to include the ram also.

The thing I don't like about the ram on the cover is if you have to take the cover off you then have to take the ram off also.

Axle housing over diff cover. What if for some reason the diff cover bolts shear off while out wheeling. Highly unlikely but you never know

I cant remember what brand my diff cover is but its thick! Did you weld tabs onto a rod clamp or is that a clamp one could buy?

Not following you on part of the question but yes I welded a couple tabs on.

Oooh i just thought of something...

So this truck has a trans cooler in front of the radiator and its running through the radiator. (No temp guage)

Do I need to run a bigger cooler or one with a dedicated fan or will the 700r4 be ok with the 40s because of the 513 gearing?
Dont want to skip any steps here.

Btw what i thought was a ps cooler i think is an oil cooler.

Ok next question. Those of you that mounted their ram using the tie rod clamp, did you just remove this bolt and weld on the tabs?

I see they show a jeep just using this, i wonder if i could make that work?

No I used a different clamp but you should be ok with that one. However the clamps tend to slip so once you get it put together and aligned you’ll want to burn in a short bead to keep it from moving on the tie rod.
