Two problems.

1) You lose clearance and approach angle with that Warn design.
2) A M15000 winch wont fit between the frame rails.

After looking at it for a while it does seem kind of "flat". What I mean is the front edge is 3" tall from end to end. Most bumpers these days are really tall in the center then taper off to nothing at the ends.

I decided this route to keep approach angle and clearance in regards to the center section at a minimal. I could taper the outer ends but that would look a bit odd with still having fender hanging down below it.

The bumpers sections are just kind of there to finish off the whole package to make a complete looking bumper.

Ok, bumper ears are getting a bit of a revamp. Going to try and have them sweep up a bit but still keep that classic "brick" look.

I am also considering have the grill guards go out then straight down to outer edge of bumper

What do you guys think?

To be honest Larry, I am working on this to be offered as a new production bumper. It will be a full DIY weld together bumper. Essentially you get a "bumper in a box" I have some rework to do this week on it but I hope ot have first run of metal on it in the next two weeks.

The center section is pretty much done I am just reworking the bumpers ends a bit.

I have to get this prototype bumper done along with a full repaint of the Mule before December 8th. We have a run in California for 3 days and We want it to be in the Mule.

You have to use your imagination but this is another possible alternative for the grill guards.

The idea is you can get just the center section with the uprights. Then later you can add the bumper ends and then the grill guard tubes.

Need some help here

I need a total width dimension of a Warn M12000 or M15000 Winch. I need it from left to right case end to case end WITHOUT the control box mounted on the winch. The dimensional image that warn has shows overall width with the control box mounted. I think its like a 1/2" shorter with out the box.

Please give me as precise numbers as you can

Thanks.

Bare naked M12000 is 24.625" OAL.

What dual USB flushmount setup are you going to use? Ive had a hard time finding a good 12v to 5v panel mount version.

Its a product from Blue Sea which make some really good boat oriented electronics. Ie small, compact design for minimal spaces, 12V and typically waterproof. We are hoping to be offering these soon.

Will hopefully have the final revision of the bumper all taped together and even painted to give the full look this weekend.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Totally awesome right!

More serious note. If I have enough interest (which is starting to show) I may end up offering these... in metal of course!

Its a bit of old meets a bit of new. The old Warn Trans4mer bumper meets newer style angle swept bumpers with Bull bars. It will accept up to a M12000 winch and should have just enough room to clear a M15000. the frame mounts are 4 bolts on each ear and the frame is sandwiched between two 3/16" plates.

center section uprights and winch plate are 3/16" material. The bumper sections will be 1/8" the Tubes are 2" dia. with .120 wall. and it has a modular design and can be added to as wanted.

The underside can be boxed in and at an angle to help keep approach angle at its best and to provide extra protection below.

It will have a total of 5 light mounting locations and two 3/4 Shackle mounts automatically.

Total estimated weight with Bullbars is 111lbs

I just started on a close replica of the old Warn winch bumper and estimated weight on that is 70lbs
