That explains the choice to not use the more popular houndstooth for a first gen. Not that houndstooth is bad, but it seems live EVERYBODY with a resto-modded first-gen is doing it. Kinda like Torq-thrust wheels on every muscle car at any car show.
Yeah, I thought about the houndstooth but I never really "loved" the look and wanted something that would stand up to dust and dirt and still be black but not hot in the open sun as I wear shorts alot. I bought the rear seat a few years ago and really liked the look and feel so decided to match it with the fronts. The nice thing about cloth center panels like that is NOT frying your legs and back when it's been parked in the sun for 5 minutes or more.
