Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
OK, what I have so far. Carpet will cover the area between the base and trim ring of the t-case. I plan on getting a black shift knob for the Lokar that will match the tcase.

Just dropped off these bad boys at the upholstery shop today.

Bought these from @6872xtc a few years back and finally getting to the point in the build where I can install them.

Looks good. Should be even better with fresh foam filling it out.

We found the material to match the rear seat.

That explains the choice to not use the more popular houndstooth for a first gen. Not that houndstooth is bad, but it seems live EVERYBODY with a resto-modded first-gen is doing it. Kinda like Torq-thrust wheels on every muscle car at any car show.

The nice thing about cloth center panels like that is NOT frying your legs and back when it's been parked in the sun for 5 minutes or more.

Yeah, I thought about the houndstooth but I never really "loved" the look and wanted something that would stand up to dust and dirt and still be black but not hot in the open sun as I wear shorts alot. I bought the rear seat a few years ago and really liked the look and feel so decided to match it with the fronts. In case anyone is interested the material is called "Black Rock" tweed.

Question, is there a trick to getting the gauge bezel out? Almost looks like I have to lower the steering column?
