Reminds me of the problem I was having with the crew cab. Kept running out of gas sooner than I thought I should.

Started chasing the issue this morning, after having my right foot x-rayed. Yep, broke a bone in it last week. Stay off of it for 2 weeks. RRIIIIGGGGHHHHHT!

Pulled the line at the mechanical fuel pump and put a "known to work" electric pump in the line. Ran it off of my jump box. No flow.

Pulled the fuel filter that is 1/2 way up the frame . Put the pump on it, no flow.

Blew into line coming from the tank. I could hear the air escaping at the tank.

Roll back there and I gently pull on the fuel hose. It comes out and the clamp falls off of it.:doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah: I guess I forgot to tighten it. Or was it Putins fault? I'm not sure. I drove it 10 miles like that. I should be happy it fell off in the driveway.

Had to drop the tank again. The return line was off also. Both are now tight. I put the tank back in. Hook the hose onto the fuel pump. Add the jump box to the battery because I will be cranking for a bit. No go. :dunno:I sit in the seat, just done. Then it hits me, maybe I should put the fuel filter back in.

Cranked for a bit then fired.

I am going to sell everything off and sit in a recliner until I die. I am obviously not cut out for this anymore.

I am posting this seperatly so it is easier to find.

Idle AFR at 15?
Primary jets are 68. Rods are 41.

Changed the primary rods to 39. Idle AFR at 12.8 - 13.1.

Light driving, AFR at 13.2 - 13.5. Slight hill load to 14.0.

WOT 10.5 still. No bog. Too scared to look behind for black smoke.

Wade I hear ya, my truck has started leaking oil from the drain plug, I got a new gasket, cause that had to be the problem. Yesterday I go to dump the oil, put a wrench on the plug, it's no where near tight. Good thing I got strong fingers, went a whole service interval with finger tight drian plug:doah:

I have that one.
It's still untouched because the day I bought it I sold my 1980 crew cab and I have been driving tbi and vortec trucks since.
Pretty much what Wade just told me after he asked what parts were in his carburetor
:haha:

Drove it some more. AFR was still too high under normal cruise. Went from 68 to 72 primary jets. Drove it to get $2.98a gallon gas. Worth the 30 cents cheaper when you are pumping 30 gallons. Gage works correctly.

Tomorrow is a 1.5 hour drive to a car show. I have to put mies on before the trip.

Carbs have never been dead on for AFRs. It's basically impossible under all conditions, given what they are. Part of the key is that you don't know - ignorance is bliss. Feeling good/running good is more important than WBO2 numbers being exact. That's not even talking about transient conditions!

For what its worth, I've played with the idle afr on the 454 in the crew cab. It definitely idles much better at about 13.2, leaner made it idle rough. I haven't altered the afr for the 350 in the C10 from what Edelbrock programs and it idles in the low 13's also, even low 12's when it's cold.

Lost a rear center cap. Been looking for an hour for the right one. Finally found it, but I do not need simulators. And paying $210 just to get one center cap is stupid.

Anyone out there have a center cap like this laying around?
