ReTonkulous

Utlilmaster P30
Put the truck in the shop to pull the front wheels for a rebalance. Tire hop from 45 to 60 mph. Feels like the right front. I looked under the truck before moving it for any new drips. Nothing. Back it in and get the jack and stands out. 2 inch puddle of something has formed in about 15 minutes. Get the wheels off and a couple more small drips a little further back. Looking around , the bottom of the pan is wet, front to back. The back of the balancer is dry. So, pan gasket.

I tightened every bolt 3/4 turn to tight. I already did this when I got the truck.

LS swap it. I’ve been told it fixes everything
Say's the guy with SBC in everything.
Moroso sells a 1 piece pan gasket for Mark IV (also a Gen VI version) big blocks that works excellent and is less expensive than the FelPro version. I use them every build at this point.
I don't think the gasket matters if the bolts are not tight. Just something I need to check occasionally.

The one piece gasket has metal inserts in it, so you can actually tighten the bolts without smashing the gasket. However, even with an old cork gasket they shouldn't be coming loose on you, sounds strange. Many older pan bolts come with those little star type lock washers I suppose, they have their pros and cons though.

Now you know why the center cap vanished.

I can't tell what that cap is. Send a picture of the matching cap. I have some on my coach one is damaged and I hate the simulators can't put air in the inside dual. So they're going bye bye.
If my 3 good caps match they're yours

They are made for simulators. Most simulators have the caps attached. These press onto a ring held on by the lug nuts.

I am waiting for pictures of mine.
How many fake lug nuts?
These have 2 or 3 ovel head Philips holding on to lug nut ring.
May be 10 lug idrc

Measurements, I have in Havasu. If you still want pm and address.
Want more pics ask

Picked up an 8' Morse cable from the local performance shop. They have or can get everything. And as much as I like buying local, paying $95 for a cable that is $55 from Summit, is more than I am willing to absorb in the future.

The Unimatic shifter for the 4L80E is being put into use on the TH400 for this years tour. The shifter has to be changed due to the new stripped tilt column going in. The cable that came with it is 5' long. Will not reach from the left side of the truck. They had this B&M cable in stock. Wrong end on the housing. I used the single offset bolt bracket., So I cut that off, made a retained and drilled the shifter bracket to add the cable.

Upper cable is the nut on housing unit it came with.

Bottom is the "fix". Should work just fine.PXL_20230528_175250642.jpgPXL_20230528_175258054.jpgPXL_20230528_175254057.jpg

Because of the cost discrepancy with the local shop, I ordered a dual pass transmission cooler with a fan on it, from Summit.

And because the starter bumped 3 times with no spinney yesterday, a high torque mini starter was ordered. Same one that is spinning Eileen's 383 in her Corvette. Seems to work.

Money going out fast. It is a goo thing I am picking up a food trailer tomorrow for dirt cheap. Clean it up and make a $20k profit on it. I hope.
