I had to order 1/4" flat washers from Amazon. Everyone here has Hillman, and the supposed 1/4" washers fit a 5/16" perfectly. Not doing it, might as well not use a washer.
Haven't seen the Amazon ones I chose, be here in a day or so.

That is normal for a USS washer, the SAE washers are a better fit.

Wade, for those large cable ends check a welding shop or the welding section in the hardware store.

I also order a lot of that stuff from McMaster if I can't get it locally. Fast shipping and mostly quality USA made stuff.

That's the difference between sae and uss washers. They fit one size bigger and have a larger od on sae. USS have a smaller od and fit the size they say. I may have mixed those up.

I have never noticed an id difference between sae and uss. My experience is with the industrial supply, Kimball Midwest, Lawson, Tifco.
If there was an I'd difference it wasn't as noticeable as this.
I like to use USS on everything, like those wide flat washers.

Now that I'm retired my fastener supply has to be resourced

Hijacked, so pictures. Kimball Midwest 1/4 sae and uss, 5/16 USS Hillman and Kimball. Don't have any Hillman 1/4" handy.
This is all sizes. I buy 5/16 fits 3/8 etc. I blamed multi metric mfg's

ever heard of guys doing copper pipe and flatten the end and drill a hole . ?

i have done it a few times with good results .

and i have a pair of vintage T&B crimpers the size of bolt cutters and does up to 4/0

I was going to run a tach wire for the new gauge. HEI dizzy already has a white wire running from it. Chased it to this .

Interwebs shows it as a "Module Air Injection Control". I wonder if I can bypass it. All of the smog stuff is gone.

When I did one of my gauge sets I used little green LED for turn signal indicators, and a little blue LED for high beam indicator, and a little red LED to replace the brake warning light, which I also hooked to a low oil pressure switch in parallel. You aren't always looking at the gauge when on hills, etc.

Although you can usually feel a brake problem before a light ever turns on.
