Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

for lighting whelen all the way for LED stuff. Tomar makes cool strobe bars. Probably not the old school look you're hunting though.

Used and installed a lot of Whelen stuff, all strobe. I like it.

I've been around a lot of the whelen strobe stuff too. It's good stuff.

Now that the LED technology is so much better, that's the only way to go. Saves such a load on the batteries. Strobe packs draw chingos of power.

looks like I might be getting those bubble gum machines after all :haha:

Whelen doesn't make anything with the look I like.. actually, I was eyeballin the Federal Signal current Jetstream model

i dont care for jet stream. thay dom's seal on the black plastic strips. lets in a lot of moisture. have one on the tow truck were i use to work. that bar sucked 100% .

street hawk uses rubber orings on bottom of doms to seal as its pulled tight from bolts.

i got my last few street hawks off ebay or local city auctions. ya thay drink the juice but all halagon bulbs. i had to up the alt to 200 amp's to i could still run the truck at night in the winter with every thing going at 1 time.

good deal there. lenses look new . new amber lenses are 100-120 pair alone last i checked. and if you want later you can swap it over to all light by getting the parts to swap out the center grill. WOW price up http://www.ebay.com/itm/FEDERAL-SIG...Parts_Accessories&hash=item29ef8123c8&vxp=mtr

led is yes brighter . but when you get out of the smaller operating window/path of the light beam it gets real dark fast. old school halegen bulbs use more power but also flood the area with light all over.

if me ask around tow truck guys / cops and fire fighters thay will give you the good/bad on ves bar's out there thay use every day .

good to know.. :D obviously I'm quite some time away from that.. probably when I do the toolboxes...

did a quick and dirty stabilizer today..

it really didn't need it, but it just had such a "hair trigger" at highway speeds now, it took a bit of that "twitch" out of it... now it has no straight line wander, twitch, etc at highway speed, works awesome..

well, the hi-steer is overkill in this rig, but the performance is rediculously good on the whole package I did....

heep shaft, new 2wd box, both frame braces, x-over, kingpins, etc, the steering is stupid tight, it get's lock to lock with a purpose, even without assist..

the only thing that annoy's me at the moment is the ds steering arm needs the TRE taper reamed just a c*nthair... friggin thanks NWF... I can only get a 1/2 a cotterpin thru it..

ummm, let's see.. stereo is in and I really like the Sony so far... pretty damn loud thru just those 6 x 9's... we'll see how it holds up..

and I did the dash bezel in satin black.. it looks WAY better than the beat up, brushed alum look it had going on.. I'll probably go in and do the raised ring section around the gauges in silver, or in the Ryoken red maybe..

which btw, the interior will be in various states of disassembly over the next few months as i work on doors, painting the dash metal Ryoken red, new seats, etc.. here it is with the bezel just tossed back in...

Crossover is well worth it.
Cool to hear the stereo is working good for you.:waytogo:

Not that you would. But, do you think a hydro assist could be fabbed in somehow? Ive been thinking about it since you posted your steering pics:whistle:

absolutely.. might want to up the mounting a bit from my setup, but definitely doable in the same spot, albeit tighter with hoses and such....

I know it's been done too, maybe Willard or one of the ORD rigs...

it's just not needed in my app...

nah, no regrets... tho a pain, pulling a TRE would get ya a 1/2 turn if needed.. I set toe last week prior to doing this, it's pretty much balls on, shouldn't need to be f*cked with anyway..

well, apparently the USPS cares about my packages,

but the machines don't give a damn and just wanna eat some plasma tips... :doah:
