Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

so.. messing around with rear drawings... pretty sure I'm gonna do the alum panel in the gate... I could maybe have it milled down the road, lasered or something neat...

the bottom section is actual inaccurate.. the "U" hanging off the coffin will actually be 4 bends, not 2... like 45 angles on each side, with about a foot of straight in the middle..

next spring, just to drive it, I will just buzz a quick bracket on to mount my current heep universal tailights...

but eventually it'll be that alum panel with a flushmount plexi panel in it like my K5 dash edge-lit tech....

the amber is a good indicator how bright the red could be...

obviously you'd have to blast almost all... but a band of unetched around the edge might be cool.. like in an inch from the alum or something...

obviously this opens up crazy possibilities with different etching and multiple colors, etc...

but I think a simple all red setup could be done pretty easily and be pretty slick..

my biggest issue is I don't weld alum to build the frames/panels... :doah:

there once was this blonde Asian hooker... :haha:

weathers looking HORRIBLE for sat.. but I'm hopefully to get the back and rails thru 2k primer by sunday night......

nice frame Paul...ain't solid start builds awesome?

haven't worked on as rust-free a vehicle in 25 yr's..

and that's only cuz the hotrods where only 12, 15 yr's old at the time..

even than, some where worse... :doah: :haha:

I can't be the only CK5er that loves when Paul has these "killin it" weekends planned.... All this wet-on-wet, primer though final coat-type talk and massive progress in a single weekend (with photos) gets me super inspired!

:o

thanks, likewise for your updates... :D

it's that extra couple steps of stripping and extra primer that make it a bit challenging... but the whole rip it apart Friday, back running mon a.m. thing is sometimes fun, and can be HIGHLY efficient... can be.. it can also turn into quite the clusterf*ck! :doah: :haha:

but as you might imagine, I'm beside myself with stoke over what's gonna happen to this rig over the next 6 months... real fuggin stoked, thus the aircraft stripping after din din, etc..... :haha:

trying to get as "ahead" as I can be for when the new rear setup get's here... rails painted, tubebed back on for gooseneck placement, etc...

but it'll be a couple weeks till I get the axle, rims, etc.. than a couple more till I get tires.. I'm just anxious to see how little mudflap I feel I can get away with... :haha:

I just want to know the musical playlist that accompanies a weekend like this.....

Gotta be some sabbath, L7 and ?....

With a heavy dose of Wild Turkey at the end of each night? :deal:

I usually reserve the cocktails for sunday afternoon payback for a bustbutt weekend... :doah: :pimp:

if it pours on sat like it's supposed to, it may be a day of fab on the tubebed... Lab organizing..

and yup, ton's of Sab, L7, Ted, AC/DC, Zep, throw in some grunge, Zombie, Ministry, RATM, Trouble, etc and I'm a headbangin mofo... :saweet:

normally I'd be HIGHLY perturbed at the interrupted progress on some fun fab like the tubebed... :dunno: but I'll make an exception for 37's in dually format... :woot:

pretty sure I'm going with the Baja's....

Looks good, thought you were going desert coyote with it for a second. That would be sweet! Truck looks good though! Looking forward to seeing the bed progress.

thanks guys... :D

was out early picking up sand and going to horrible freight for blaster tips...but got r' dun...

glad that's over.... now I can get back to the tubebed.... and when the axle/tires get here, I'll have a clean frame to hang em from.. i'll paint the sheetmetal orange in the spring..

nothing.. I'm going to 37's with Kert's whole back setup... moving up to 4.88's and more importantly narrowed spring pads to put the springs under the rails... just need to buy some rubber..
