Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

No - I run squares on my little trailer. But they are that style with fewer LEDs and reflectors.

Might be worth walking into a truck supply place if there is one nearby, they typically have them in stock and you could see them up close and test them before committing.

And I really like the ambers in the middle - it just seems to tie together.

yeah, it's one of those ones where I almost feel like ordering 1 of each to see which I like better.. before buying 12...

sucks, when you don't have all this stuff sitting in front of you for eyeballing, etc... that's the advantage of a shop doing this stuff.. they tend to stock a bunch of this stuff...

Looking great!

You mentioned that the white ones will only have a few LED's, compared to the rest.

I would do what you can to get the brightest, most badass backups in that shape/size you can.

Even if you are adding other backups down the road, you will love having backups that actually give off light when the others are off.

well, I'm questioning the backups I picked out and poopoo'd as only having 10 leds... they may be bright as he!! if they have the reflector gig going that fubeca posted about...

that'd be one advantage of getting the ones from etrailer, if all 3 colors where the same led count/spec... the ones that superbright has with all 3 colors the same are these https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...n-led-stop-turn-tail-light-with-10-leds/1409/

I'm pretty set on this design, it'll just be what components at this point... I'll probably go for the light purchase after the alum, and before the boxes.. as I plan to drive it before I get the boxes..

thanks for the suggestions guys!
see, everyone helped build my rig!

hmmm, so the miroflex etrailer ones are only that tech in red it appears... the clear and amber appear to be standard led's..

Yeah, but you're the one with the crazy skills and patience of Job to actually CREATE our crazy ideas.

build vicariously thru my rig..... :haha:

I do like these reverse ones from etrailer..

http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Lights/Optronics/BUL22CB.html

the vid shows they have they have a nice solid, incandescent kind of light with this lense.. as opposed to that "individual bulb" look of many led's..

tho I bet when all the lights are out, the lense would give it a different "look" than the red/amber ones... not sure I like that..

the searches continue...

Yeah, what he said.

It's nice to know there is a guy out there that will turn stuff into reality that I wouldn't have the balls to attempt for myself. :D

With the white ones, there is a lot to be gained from good LED chips and lense quality. One of the problems with LEDs is you can get a lot of 'brightness' - but not much throw.

Lucky for you, you're auxiliary lights can give you plenty of throw.

Something like this would be crazy bright - especially with two up top and two at the hitch.

You may find them too bright.

yeah, that's kinda what I was looking to run up on the C-hoop, but I was thinking round...

that's the stoopid part of all this, I'll be welding tabs, etc and touching up paint a yr or 2 down the road cuz of additions that I can't afford initially... :doah: :haha:

whereas, if I where rich, I'd just have all this cr@p sitting on a shelf bought already and just fab, take apart, finish, done....

damn poverty... :dunno:  :haha:

ok, I think I'm going with these for the red and amber.. referred to as high brightness units... they have 17 hi flux led's with some reflectoring going on...

for the reverse lights, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the one I linked earlier from etrailer... watch the video, jump to the end..

I'm curious why you want amber lights on the rear? I've never heard of anything that says you have to have amber out back. My Dodge only has red/ white. Is it because of the width?

If ambers aren't needed you could go w/ just two reds and a white on each side: tail light, turn/brake, and back up.

Might want to check regulations. In Idaho flatbed trucks have to follow the same rules as trailers. You can't have the amber on the outside edge has to be red on the corners.

I don't know if this will matter or not but you also might need a center red light. And a red marker facing out the side.

Only important if you might get inspected. Idaho guys routinely ignore the rules we have no inspections.

BTW the angled ovals look awesome

I think he'll likely need three little reds in the center, and side-facing markers at the front and rear.

oh, I know that.. I don't want to "just" have a minimum that I need... what's required..

if that where the case, I could just run something like this, with just a red and white spaced out a bit more.. a single red serves all the stop/park/turn functions...

but it would look :sign19: ....

I want it to be cool, befitting of the tubebed and all my efforts.. I think the ambers add that... filling up the panel proportionately good and the angling make it all come together...

I don't think i'll need any of that.. ambers got moved anyway.. I ran around for 2 yr's with the wood flatbed and just a couple stoopid jeep universal lights on it and no one said boo... all they check in this state anymore is emissions..

and thanks... :D

It wouldn't be much to add the additional lights - but if they aren't messing with you...

At least your truck will just blend in, you know - inconspicuous :D

oh, I know.. I could easily add some sidemarkers, red centers, etc ... I do have to do something for a plate..

that thing ain't got nothing on mine in the circus wagon department... :pimp: tho I bet he's pretty bright at night... :eek1:

eh, wait'll I get the lightbar.... :haha:
