Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

You're build threads always turn into a conversation about planning, layout, design etc. When ever someone says anything semi irrelevant in my build threads they apologize for going off topic and tell me every things looking good lol.

Ive devised a term for this. We'll call this the Ryoken Vicariously Loungy Build Thread Effect.

I certainly can appreciate the complexity and skill of the build...what impresses me more is that Ryoken does it all himself (I do know what that's like, working alone on heavy objects)
Building that tube bed is monumental...I'd have been crushed and yelling for help a long time ago...
As for two-tone and hubcaps...it's where it all began...and there are definately two distinct paths in what CK'ers are going for...back to original or creating a new look. I get that.

it was just a general comment... :D

all that's need to drive it at this point is the brake hardline up the frame and the fuel tank...

well, lights and flaps too.. flaps I'll be working on over the next week in the shop on the bed... and lights will be a "weld the heep ones to a tube 5 minutes before I drive it" thing, if I don't get that back panel done in time..

can you imagine how them fockers howl..... :haha:

ordered a 25' coil of 1/4" brake line for the 12' frame piece today...

can you imagine how them fockers howl..... :haha:

Yes, yes I can. We repeatedly took 3 hour trips to Harlan, Ky in my buddy's 79 F150 Truggy wearing a set of the Q78 (~36x12.50) TSLs. 62mph was the sweet spot where you could about hear yourself think and they smoothed out to a mild beating. :doah:

Id never by "namebrand" leds.

China leds work just as good for pennies on the dollar. And prolly made in the same chinese plants

Sidetracked offroad on here has some good stuff. Ill buy any and all lighting stuff from him.

well, from the reading I've been doing, the China knockoffs are very hit or miss, using cr@ppy chips, etc....

I don't know d*ck about em, I just know I like that for my needs... a diffused floodlight is what I'm looking for... is that his user name? edit... found him...

2 of these 6 led diffused would be nice.. that's $250

and they have 9's for 300...

I have 2 of those little 4 led 2"x2" pods in the bottom of that pic. Those alone are bright as hell. I drove halfway home from the dunes once and forgot i didnt even have my headlights on at all :haha:

it doesn't appear the 4's are available with diffused lenses.. and that's what I want, not just a clear flood..

I'm ok splurging on those when the time comes to have killer working light back there...
