Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I use to think 600 was a lot, but in fall fairness the engines I usually see are much bigger than an ISX.

Yea there are bigger engines. Cat 3516 and Detroit 16v92's were the common ones I worked on but even those are babies compared to larger generators and ships haha.

flag pole holders.... they'll be drilled and pinned..

the tube mounts I got are pretty sweet.. just need to run the eyelits on the poles and figure out how long to make them.. I have 2 6'er's... pics this weekend...

.

the mounts are done and on.... just waiting for the quick-release pins...

the mounting allows for some variation in angle in/out and up/down if wanted...

obviously the poles are a tad long.. ;) this weekend, I'll figure out how high to make the flags with zipties....

also ordered an alum cap for each pole end once i determine how much to lop off. figuring about 18" shorter...

the ambers going, 2 of three 3 rotators on the ds decided to not work after refurb/handling, need to check that tomorrow... :doah: digging the under tire light tho.... can't wait to get 3 door logos done and put one on the angle.... got a new plan for that over the winter... :deal:

underlight gone white on this one, and worklights..

glad I went with amber/white drawer lights.... that may be a while.. next summer perhaps...

oh, semi successful flag run today.... bit of a rework needed... the tube clamps need to be on the outer tubes due to a better angle.... one started slipping a bit today at 50 mph... no big, need to swap the 2 and remount.. just a tad "bulkier" on the outer tube... I did figure out a way to add a small welded plate mount down the road to make it all a little simpler/bulletproof... the main prob is the tubeclamp has only one bolt per side, 2 would make it stout... for $8, it's hard to bitch...

some more ummmm, schtuff, tomorrow.... :haha:

....

You need to add a speaker system and play some kind of other worldly spaceship noise. Turn all those lights on and play that noise and probably nobody would bother you while you were repoing their boat.

i thought about putting a PA speaker in the hidden center of the lightbar at some point... pretty sure the cop versions had that... but I really have no need for it, other than to be an arse.. ;)

today's agenda, get the front lightbar mounted and buff out the chalky Ryo red.... maybe clean the engine compartment for the first time since the last show...

here's the final setup for the car show... my apologies for the lack of breeze... :haha:

they'll run on the highway, but boy, it beats the chit out of the flags.... anything less pole-wise, would bend easy... never would have figured a flag would have that kinda torque...

thing I do not like about running flags on the road is they get beat up real fast.

yup, it's fine at 35 and under poking around town.. but running all the time at 35 to 55 flogs the heck out of em... noisy too... like i said, special days, events...
