Ryoken's 96 Furd twofiddy

so.... I'm taking a 2 day this week.. I'm sure 1/2 of that will be sucked up with life.. but I wanna try to get maybe 10 to 12 hrs in on this rig this weekend.. I've been driving it non-stop since like oct/nov... been running blacky, the 91 2wd this week... full, 6 month old tankful to burn.. ;)

definitely miss the train-like 4x4.... gonna throw in a stock replacement clutch bushing to get the pedal much better temporarily... haven't received the rod end mod yet, so I'll throw this in for a few weeks..

haven't gotten the main shaft bushings yet, not sure when i will do that nightmare... but I'm gonna start driving the rig again come monday..:burnout:

DEFINITELY want to get the 2 front shocks squared away by monday morn.. also throw a fuel filter in... and prep the front for doing the add-a-leaf...

chompin at the bit for new tires... ;)

FTR... it's a 2-day cuz I'm beyond a trainwreck... can barely walk most of the day... 1 out of 3 yard guys has worked full-time the last 2-wks... calamity of errors there... we are soooooo FUGGED for memorial day... as a wrench, I can only do so much.. been slogging, but....

but a solid weekend of kikarse rig projects brings me happy happy/ joy joy.... ;)

and that doesn't even included the gearbox/t-case fluid change I need to get to....

Dam, Iknow your work demands so much of you this time of year, but really, do take time for yourself! You can never get back what has passed you by!

it's also me trying to get hrs to make the check better... i'm lucky physically to get low 40's any more....

but my one yard guy is all ghetto rich at 62 cuz the bank finally paid on his foreclosed house they took.. he's supposed to start getting his 62 SS money if he ever get's around to applying.. he's just being an alky bum.. fine, cut back to 3 day wks, but he worked 1 day this wk.. thats a big f-u..... dude, your knee hurts???!!!!?? stfu..I can barely walk...

the other guy went to vegas for his gf birfday... whatev, it was planned.. he kills it when he's there.. his prob is the dumbarse ate and drank his way into a goet??????????? fit.. so ever since he's been back, he's worked like 1 in 10 days cuz his foot is all bloated......

my life today... in addition to the normal spring insanity i face weekly, my "additional" work this week was a 496 mill, in a boat a customer bought last sept.. they replaced the exh manifold due to an overheat to sell it... it wasn't that.. ;)

it was the elbow above it.. motor was hydrolocked when i went to comish it mon.. isolate the water, evac cylinders of winterizing AF that leaked doiwn into the cylinders... relight to clean cylinders... pressure test closed cooling system...

.. pull exhaust to pressure test.. reinstall with good parts.. refill coolant.. 2 oil-changes to get rid of milkshake oil from last yrs water ingestion for a couple months.. thing sat with milkshake in it all winter cuz the guy was too cheap to do oil changes in the fall like was recommended... :dunno:

fug my life... boss wanted me in for a nightmare tomorrow.. nope, not coming in.... and i want the 3 day wkend next week...

wow, that was a work-inspired rant... my bad...

life is what you make of it.. unfortunately my decisions haven't always been made with my best intentions apparently..

anyway... as long as I'm moving forward in some regard... he!!, maybe I'll be doing the ds pinstriping sun afternoon... :haha:

wasn't able to get a ton done, but enough.. considering...

hobbled around sat and got the 2 front shocks done and replaced the factory clutch bushing temporarily.. helped a ton... got, but still need to undertake the shaft bushings.. hopefully the rod end kit shows tomorrow.. tho i may wait a month or so to do that...

today i did nothing... laid on the couch till noon and Kai started bugging me to go out... sitting in the yard with him tossing the slobberball...

I did take 5 min to throw a fuel filter in, and my tool bags for the torture pit morrow...

I'd REALLY like to take on getting the add-a-leaves in next week with hopefully a 3-day.. but it's a pretty big project, we'll see how it goes... I was really pretty battered today, just trouble walking the pooch...

I'm so chompin at the bit to buy some new tires.. I'd like to get that squared away first... maybe even drive it in the alignment shop on the old tires with the new ones in back for them to mount/install while aligning...

just popped for tires... 285/75-16 Toyo MT's.. $1159 w/tax... be at the marina next thurs.....

decided to do the tires now.. I'll have my alignment shop do em.. and I'll talk to him about coming back and dealing with my camber issue after the add-a-leaf...

so, in light of my tire decision, I've changed up my approach to this TTB temporarily...

in light of that, and some current parts restrictions, I've changed up the memorial day 3 day, coughpossibly4cough, weekend to a much more casual approach, as opposed to rebuilding spring packs, etc insanity...

I need to heal a bit here.. ;) gonna do my satin black work... pinstripe the rest of the rig and do the ds mirror..

I'll also look to do a fluid change on the gearbox and TC.... might investigate how bad camber bushings will be to do... I REALLY don't want to look to do ball joints on this rig.. but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to do an upper to get the bushing out...

I'm also thinking of investigating how bad it would be to ditch the visor.... actually pull it, bit of silicone over the holes.. get to replacing the cracked windshield.. get the trim surround shot in satin black.. and eventually weld up the visor holes.. I think the rig would look better without...

lurking in the background is heavy concern that i need to replace that crazily rotted out rear spring shackle and hangar... waiting for the leaf to end up in the bed.. have the parts, but.......

made my tire appointment for next saturday.. stoked on that.. would i prefer 4" and 35"s? sure.. but I think the fresh MT's are really gonna help snot the rig up a bit...

You may be able to find some plugs to pop into the visor holes until you're ready to weld/paint.

Will your alignment shop do an alignment if the bushings are trashed. Mine won't.

Get that spring shackle/hanger done if it's gonna fail. Last thin you need to have happen..

I think everything is tight up there.. I'm gonna check the balljoints this weekend.. I read you can reuse the balljoints. And just take the stock bushing out around it and change it for the adjustable... But it has been together FOREVER...

I just don't want to have to strip it all down to do both balljoints... I would love to do the spring packs, all the tiered stuff and pay them to do the bushing and final alignment.. They are gonna hate me I know it... ;)

as a follow up... I dig em for the 15 miles i have on em so far... bit more road-noise than the baldys, but barely noticeable...

good looking tire... i'll report periodically.. just wish the nose was up a bit...

tire guy dug the rig... brought it around and came in with a big smile... told him it'll only get better.. ;)

they where busy so i didn't get to talk to them about adj bushings, aligning, etc... i'm gonna get to the rear shackle hangar before i look at the front... it concerns me... just deciding if i wanna nut up, do it right, and do the back tank, blast, etc at the same time, or a quickie...

Too bad they aren’t 35s with a 4” lift and a d60 front with the blacked out trim chrome.

:haha: Haha

Looks killer Paul! :waytogo:

visors off at least temporarily....

think I like it better without... really need new roof lights too...

I somehow managed to lose my window trim tool... the one visor hole in the middle was definitely starting a rust issue.. caught it in time...

by far the worst windshield I've ever had in a rig between the giant cracks and white edge.... :haha:

ooooo, maybe this rig would be a good candidate for some sleek smoked lights...

just ordered some lights... didn't want to change mounting with something UFO schmancy... the smoked lenses will help with the black theme i think/hope...

would this rig be r12 or 134?

first rig with functioning AC... :doah: :dunno: :haha:

so.. it's NEVER had anything done to it.. ever... it works, just seems like it could definitely be colder.. need a top off? obviously the system doesn't leak...

Yor rig should have R134A. 1995 was the first year.
