Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

I did the back ones with the BB's, but blew a bead on the one and it actually got smoother when I drove home :doah: I need to figure something out, but I really think its the front tires.

Went wheeling with the East Coast crew again this weekend.... We had a great time as usual. Rausch Creek is fantastic, and it's awesome that it is only two hours away.

On that note, this truck will get me into more trouble than I can get out of sometimes. I had a real hairy moment (for me at least) where we were doing a hill climb and the truck started bouncing and kicking sideways. I backed down a bit, and my tires got wedged in the perfect position to lift the front end of the truck about a foot and a half of the ground. I was picking the seat cloth out for the next hour or so :doah:

The body on this thing is getting trashed. I am seriously considering a trazer swap, a la jt512, muddermilitia etc. and am going to start hunting up a cab. The old girl got a workout this weekend, and I need to fix some stuff before I head out to Michigan in two weeks ( :doah: ) this way I can make it and not worry.

Haven't updated this since the last time out.... Michigan was a blast as usual, but I ran into some problems out there and on the way back. Driving out, I was losing my brakes and couldn't figure out why, I wasn't losing fluid or anything but I had a really spongy pedal. Wound up replacing the master when I got out there and that seemed to fix it for the most part, but it still seems a little weird.

The truck worked as good as a stiff leaf springed, underpowered, undergeared, pig of a rig could do in the dunes. Always a blast with the Michigan crew. I also got a rear bumper put on the truck (thanks again John!!!!!!!!) as a kind of spur of the moment thing.

On the way home, I wound up losing a u-joint on the highway in the middle of Ohio. I was able to drop the rear shaft, put the truck in front wheel drive and find an O'Reilly's that had the joint in stock. Slight detour, but it was fun I guess.

Now, the main purpose of this post is to remind me of what I need to do to get this truck ready for wheeling in September. Going out to Rausch again and I need to get some stuff done before I'll be satisfied that it is ready to go:

-Tie my sliders into the frame somehow
-Re-seal the rear differential
-Re-torque everything on the truck (especially after reading Mastiff's thread :doah: )
-Fix my tranny leak
-Buy a spare U-joint
-Try and figure out what is wrong with my spare tire
-Fix the u-joint yoke on the rear axle

That's it for now. I'm sure i'll think of more stuff.

Working on getting it painted.... Gonna POR-15 it then paint over it.

Do the paint. Skip the por 15. Ive lost faith in the stuff, especially if your gonna paint over it. Might as well just primer and ratlle can.. Or im really happy with the rustoleum hammered brush on.

X2 on the Hammered......its held up on my diff covers, tie rod and flip since I built the truck.

Glad I could help you out Sir!!

It was a great time at Craig's and the Dunes for sure.

We may see you at Raush Creek end of the month?
Rich spent some time at our place north of the border and mentioned getting together to do a run down there with you guys.:waytogo:
