Thought this was interesting

Look like only the inner lip has been on the surface of the flange, or those are rubber nubs from the seal coming apart

How’s the surface of the yoke? Maybe there is a nick or something on there causing the tear

This is where I measured .012 with everything still bolted down

Less than .0005” difference between old/new on the 15x needle bearings floating between the input and out put

Replaced all these needle bearings

End results will vary, hopefully didn’t squish the seals (plural) installing them

The .012 at the point between the shafts is now .003

Deflection at the seal is now .002 from .006

This is some sherlock Holmes shit and I like it. I wish I could really help you. I do have the gm factory service manual which I can try to get some info out of that if you need?

Lol. I have one. I didn’t do a full rebuild on this bastard and it was really showing on that caged needle bearing. Chris at ORD and I discussed it before I went all nerdy. We were kinda curious, so I did math
:rotfl:

dang that is a lot of change from the old to new needle bearings.. wouldnt have thought they would wear that much..

You can see the gap when I slid the screw drive in there a few posts back. I knew as soon as I looked at the cage, it had a gap, no screwdriver lol

Pulled the passenger exhaust, ground all the welds and redid them, wire brushed the whole length and gave er some Alberta Chrome exhaust paint and reinstalled

Put the 205 back on and re assembled everything. Drove down to the county road and gave it two gears worth of shift light before parking it on a clean patch of concrete

Now we wait
