I would use the first plot with the front matching the back of the fender. I would think that it's more likely to drag before the rear tire hits a step. There's always a compromise..

You could always make them longer
Yeah, it would really suck to have the sliders land hard on a rock and bend up and block the door from opening. Not that I know anyone that had that happen....
I think either position is fine. I've not had any hits in that area in front of the rear tires you would have unprotected. I think maybe I would be inclined to split the difference between the 2 positions. Since you no longer have saddle tanks, you could always do something cool between the end of the slider and the fender opening. Like the angle kick up the original H1 Hummers have in front of the rear tire. I just doubt you'll take this truck to a place that would result in damage to that area. I think protecting the area under the doors is most important.

I have seen that happen so yes it happens.
It also happened to me with no slider, the rocker bent with the door and I had to ram it from the inside for a few minutes before I got to open it

Nick (B_to_C) had sliders on his K5 that bolted to the frame. I always thought it was a little pointless because the frame would just flex anytime pressure was on them and push them into the door. I always felt like a person needed to tie the 2 frame rails together in order to make frame mounted sliders more rigid. Or maybe his were just poorly designed. His are the only ones I've had experience with.
Buy the 80" version. I'll be up to take those out of your way. Much less issues to extending.

Yeah, you'll have to be more creative with your Lt. Dan's, but the multiple different leg angles so only be stronger in the end.

Shorten your frame/bed/wheelbase to match the bars. Way better option.
