I think I figured out my cold starting problem. Low cranking voltage caused by a weak battery that is caused by an overstressed alternator that can't charge the battery through heavily corroded cables. Perfect trifecta. The battery is 6 years old and the alternator and cables are both 17. I'm actually surprised the stock alternator has lasted so long, gm ones don't typically last so long it seems.
Great opportunity to ditch the stock style cables and go to some top post military style clamps. Can't wait for the excuse to do that on my 03!
