if you angle the shocks inward a bit so that they don't go through the wheel wells so that the holes in the floor are relatively small and manageable, you could run some shifter boots around them.

Completely new wheel tubs. As high as the bed sides.

I wish that was my reasoning!

I think I'll try the sheetmetal but I'm having trouble deciding over sticking with my deavers and getting some bypasses on the rear when I do this or just starting from scratch and linking the rear. If I linked it I could only afford the c/os though, no bypasses. deavers/bypasses > c/os alone?

I have seen it work well both ways. It is all in the shock valving and spring rates. Coil over springs are cheaper to change out, but more expensive initially. I saw one truck with 1/4 ellipticals just to locate the rear end and a pan hard bar, then coil overs.

I'm looking to do something similar but with a 1984 3/4 Ton Suburban.

You are currently running 37's correct? With your current setup, could you clear a 39"X13.50" or a 40"X13.50" on a 17X9 wheel with 4.25" backspacing?
Also, what is your Backspacing and Wheel Width?

I'm going to try and fit a Goodyear MTR 40"X13.50 - Just wondering if it'll fit (with correct offset and fender trimming) I don't want the tires to restrict my articulation or up travel. I might have to loose the inner fender (which would be replace with a bigger one) and tub the rear, I could even move the batteries but I don't want to loose the A/C or other valuable items in the engine bay.

Wow. I had to reread the thread because it has been so long.

35's on it. Believe it or not, at full stuff, it is at stock ride hight. The 35's have bashed the back of the fender opening. Anything bigger would not fit.

I am running 16x8 wheels and have no clue what the back spacing is. I am old and that was a long tim I ago.
