The restoration/modification of Daisy.

My wife and I went over to my parent's house yesterday to pick up our dogs, we take them over there to run off energy once in a while. My dad had a surprise for me, the original owners manual for my suburban! The original owner had his name and address in it, also noted that it had 32 miles on it when he picked it up. My dad was the second owner of it and the first one to ever take it off road given the condition of the truck and the neighborhood it lived in. From the 60s-90s this was a really rich area, lots of state gov't officials, mayors and mobsters lived there. (Lots of underground bunkers, sound proof walls, etc... My dad remodeled a house in that neighborhood that had a sound proof room in the middle of it, all white tile, with a drain in the middle and a water spigot on one wall, guess what happened in there...) Still a nice area due to the old money that still lives there, kinda explains the Barry Manilow cassette we found in the suburban when we bought her back in '94.

the first driveway that Dasiy ever called home...

Well obviously that soundproof room with the water spigot and drain was for the previous owner who liked to sing very loud while they showered with a garden hose.

Their spouse probably didn't like to hear all the singing and they had it sound proofed......yeah, that's the ticket....

i'm looking to buy a pitman arm for my crossover steering. ORD sells one with a 3.5" drop and one with a 1.5" drop. having never built a crossover system before i'm not sure witch one i need. ive got 4" springs and i'll have 1" zero rates on the front axle as well. suggestions?

I think, I am using the stock drop pitman arm on mine from the 2wd box. The crossover arm is a bent one correct. That should be fine.

But, just woke up and waiting on my coffee, so I'm not positive.

That's cool you have the original owners manual.

pitman arm and steering box are on the way. i swear, this weekend i'm gonna accomplish something!

Got a little bit done yesterday in this wonderful (overcast/rainy) weather. Took the front end off and started cleaning up the frame rails. I love my 9" grinder.

A favor to ask

Could you possibly take a closer picture of the cowl at tha coner of the windshield? My truck leaks rain at that point on both sides and I am trying to understand what it all looks like without having to pull the fenders. A friend told me there is body sealer there somewhere that needs to be re-done.

I would be most greatful.

i did some work on the front end of the frame today, stripped the area where the steering box goes, no cracks!! I also got the engine crossmember out and cleaned some of the inside of the frame. this weekend i'm gonna get the bumpstops and upper shock mounts removed, get the axle/springs off and get ready to do a FUSH kit as well. i'm going to relocate the brake lines also to make room for upper shock mounts.
yes my frame rails look funny, when i was 17, i put a 2" body lift on the suburban, cut off the frame ends (all 4) and welded them back on 2" higher to make my bumpers line up. now i have to cut them all off and weld them back in place...

Son of a bitch... Even in person I didn't see it. Had to zoom in on the pic to see it. Well, **** me... Guess I need to slow down a little and pay attention.

So I see at least the bottom of the two top humps have a crack and possibly the top of the rear bottom hump looks like it is a small crack starting?
